It's still there. Maybe they toned it down, but you can see it on the walls

if the direct link isn't working. Delayed, who knows when (if?) it will ever be released...

Looks like they just got a publishing deal (Prime Matter / Koch Media) and the game will release next year maybe

"sooner than you think"

Since the original release date was announced as 2017 there's no longer a "sooner than you think" date. Imo.

I love the demo, but they're sketchy, to say the least, with the release date for a few years now. And also that little detail, instead of someone from the studio with more info the show interviewed Spector instead.
Not promising IMO

"sooner than you think " phrase was probably about announcing the actual release date.

'sooner than you think '

Well, I thought 'never'.

So, that makes the release window sometimes ... this century?

At first they wanted to remake the game in their modern vision. Then after that didnt work, they restarted and just modernizing the actual game as it is. Whats holding them now is likely consoles, to finish and launch everything.

While this company was ok at first releasing old games on modern systems, everything they do know is through a console release lense.

Is there any business other than gaming where someone can say, "yes we will deliver this in 2017, thank you for the payment." then 2022 it's still not released... Also for some; promising feature x,y, z to then not include it, must be awesome to be a game dev Laughing

lmao even

And on this particular case it would be usefu, since these guys have missed each and every release date set/rumoured ao far. A shame, because the demo is amazing IMO

There's just been the kickstarter release date (which no one believes in anyways, it's never been accurate for any KS, afaik). There was the GoG placeholder date that got spread as a "fact", not really their fault... it's crazy its taking this long though.. i mean they built an engine and did tons of stuff, released a good demo, in what seemed like no-time, then nothing...

Not actual news, but some nice price hikes all around (thanks for the link, sabon):
https://steamdb.info/sub/108160/

Quote:
In Argentina, the price increased by 8.5 times, as well as in some other regions.
Red Dead Redemption 2 =2500 ARS$
Cyberpunk 2077 =2200 ARS$

System Shock =4200 ARS$ :lunar2019crylaughingpig:
This s**t must be better than all of the above games put together I suppose.
With such a pricing policy, you are forcing people to piracy.

Nice, real nice Laughing

Turns out that prehurrdurring it for three bucks wasn't such a terrible idea after all. Still, these ridiculous price changes are getting very common sadly, especially when unfinished products with a troubled development history are involved. It's been 6 years since that Kickstarterdisaster and the release date is still an elusive cyberbot...fingers crossed Poker Face

https://www.eurogamer.net/system-shock-remakes-march-release-locked-in

Quote:
We had heard the rumours, but now developer Nightdive Studio has confirmed its System Shock remake heads our way this March. Huzzah!

Sharing an update earlier today, Nightdive revealed the "scope and scale" of the project has "evolved dramatically" over the past few years. This, in part, is thanks to publisher Prime Matter joining the project.

With this publisher on board, Nightdive Studios has been able to "focus on quality-of-life improvements, bug fixing, and localisation support", things it calls "the last major steps towards releasing a game we're all incredibly proud of".
The developer has also given some "extra shine" to other areas of the game ahead of its March release. These include newly created enemy variants, which Nightdive said "provide new challenges to the player in later levels".

You can see an example of these variants below.
Perhaps most importantly, however, is the team's attention to detail when it comes to the game's dismemberment - this is something that has been a "high priority" for the developer.

As such, each enemy players come across has a "completely custom dismemberment model". According to Nightdive, there are "a lot of enemies" in the game, with the developer calling the effort put into this particular aspect of the remake "staggering".
Meanwhile, back in August, Nightdive Studios confirmed the fate of the third instalment of the System Shock series still lies with Chinese conglomerate Tencent.

System Shock 3 was first announced all the way back in 2015, with Warren Spector revealed to be its creative advisor. However, following financial woes for publisher Starbreeze, the project hit a bump, and Spector's studio OtherSide parted ways with the publisher.

The studio said it would continue working on the project on its own, but reports of development troubles and staff departures emerged in 2020. Shortly after, it was announced Tencent would be "taking the System Shock franchise forward".
A bunch of white noise so yeah, I'm not trusting this "new" release date.

The demo was just updated for Gabe's Next Fest with a new intro level and options. The store page still says March 2023, but who knows at this point..it wouldn't surprise me if they officially went the [Early Access] route Cool Face
