Couldn't believe it when I launched the game in 2K with FAR and struggled to maintain a whopping 60FPS - even though global illumination is taxing, I'd expected my rig to handle it with no issues.
I'll just wait for that Steam patch, but what a mess this is...

The reason for this update is the release in a few weeks of the remastered version of the original Nier aka Nier Replicant 1.22...

Abandoned the patching at launch but then patching it to show ppl that they care about patching their games after how long and thus showing that they are good guys? I dont think thats how reputation works.
According to some tech journos, the Gamepass version contains superficial changes and doesn't address the real technical problems of the game. Steam version with community patch is still the best version around. This upcoming patch is likely to break compatibility with the community fixes.
It will be interesting to see how the official updated textures compare to the modded HD set most use currently with FAR.
Hopefully Denuvo is also removed and that item change on the Steam Depot was not just something so they could test the patch easier as it seems a lot of companies do not like to advertise its removal since most claim it has zero impact on game performance.

You could already do that with the old release and mods.
It seems it still needs FAR to fix some issues and to be able to add the HD texture pack so Kaldaien said he will release a new version tomorrow. But it is a lot less issues than the game originally had so that is probably why he can do such a quick turnaround on his program.
I don't have the time nor the patience anymore to fix* abominable ports via many mods or tweaks.

Before the latest patch the game was a mess, rls was not up to date (quotation needed), fitgirl repack took like... 2 months to install, multiple mods were Necessarily, imperatIvely, absolutEly, obligatoRy to use, only to have a "DECENT" time with the game.
It looks like they now fixed* some of the stuff so, apparently, only NAIOM would suffice.
