They still try to balance around the top 1% that juice maps 2 days into the league while the normal player is struggling to even spawn the bosses at all.

Yes, and this is the root of most of the games issues.
They should stop balancing around the 1% with 200mil dps builds and focus on balancing the game around the majority.
GGG are absolutely terrified of pissing off the streamer population. They don't care about damage nerfs as they always play OP builds anyway that cost several mirror worth of gear to pull off and with damage nerfs will take 5 seconds to delete a boss instead of 3 seconds.

well there is a good reason they affraid, look what asmongold did to blizzard overnight on juyl4 ... , but poe streamers are smallish and they should understand if they wine and moan to much they are hurting their own job, poe should leverage that more

The campaign is a small percentage of overall playtime, at least for me. If they implement something, it has to be done right, which they probably can't do because of PoE 2 and their 3 month cycle. I understand that people hate the campaign, but I always take it as a challenge to beat it faster than before.

Balance Manifesto is out, pretty much exactly what I feared. They are buffing monster damage and nerfing character defences along side the big DPS nerf.
GGG/Chris's views on how the game plays are so divorced from reality. The only reason the game became so one shot heavy in the first place was to counter the zoom zoom builds.
I don't think POE2 is going to fix this. The main underlying issue is one of design philosophy and I doubt that will ever change, no matter how many engine upgrades or gameplay tweaks the game gets.

I would give them time. It seems they really want to make big changes to the flow of the game and things like that are best done in a few steps. Just because it's easier to gather feedback, for example. To me it's clear they're in "POE2 is more important" mode now, and are willing to lose some goodwill with the community just to make POE2 on launch in a shape they want it to be.
They can't just drop all those nerfs/big changes with the release of POE2 - it all MUST be done/adjusted before, so when sequel drops the balance is in better state than now. I'm expecting more big changes in coming leagues, also regarding monster dmg/defenses, one shots.
The only thing that IMHO will not be touched is the end-game grind, but I would love to be wrong. Anyway, I'll definetely play Expedition, just because I basically skipped last 2 leagues. Getting that PoE itch again...

I'll probably come back and give POE2 a chance. It's just that the things they're saying in their manifestos and explanations don't really fill me with hope for the future.
The fact they nerfed a lot of defensive options and buffed monster damage this league for instance is quite worrying.
I somewhat naively hoped that although they'd be nerfing DPS this league they'd take some steps to improve the player experience in other ways.

Monster damage increased? Ok, with the nerfed defense options we will take more damage, but they didn't mention an increase to the damage as well. So far there is only noted the monsters in Act1 are buffed. The last buff was "simply" more health. Now it will be the speed, maybe more health again or even different behaviour. Let's see what's in the patchnotes about this.

I like quite a few changed in this patch, the problem with streamers is half the retarded playerbase copy their builds and force these kinds of changes.. its true 60% of the skills and abilities don't get used because there's clear better options, this can be fixed.

They are increasing poison damage by 50% and making ailments worse, so there will definitely be an across the board increase in damage.
Poison is actually a relatively common thing on monsters, but it's currently a non issue as poison rarely does much damage except for certain enemies/bosses like Al-Hezmin.
As you say, wait for patchnotes to see the specifics, but considering what Chris and the designers are saying, I don't hold much hope.

That's not a big problem.
Mana management will be.
They decreased damage of the support gems, but also increased the mana multi. This means you have to invest in mana regen in some way or use less auras to play fluently. Another decrease to damage/defense. Remember that trigger skills also cost mana now. I don't see that mana flasks have been changed, but it's not fun to constantly use a mana flask to be able to attack monsters. They also increased the HP of monsters, which will be mostly noticeable during the first acts. Leveling will be fun. Also RIP movements skills and Quicksilver ...

Also a nerf on triggered defence skills like cast on damage taken molten shell. Means you likely can't reserve most of your mana anymore.

i absolutly hated mana potion spam in d2 , made me feel like a freaking robot
potions in d3 is way better, poe potions is 5 total, 3 too many in my opinion

Where is this love coming from? Player retention rate this league was/is horrendous due to big changes of game mechanics. And clearly majority of users are not happy with the approach GGG are taking.

Yeah I make my own mind up on whats fun, also second char with my own non "Meta" build deep into maps, I don't see the problem outside Reddit want easy mode and think the games too hard.

Yeah I'm also deeper in the game than I have ever been. I think it's because I never liked the flask-piano meta and didn't play like that, so I don't really know what I'm missing.
The league mechanic is kinda annoying though, stopping the mapping flow to read labels is not fun at all. The expeditions and vendors are great though, I hope they go into core.

I'm not playing until PoE2, but I like to see drastic changes to the difficulty. The powercreep was insane and the majority of the players got used with what was effectively a broken balance. I want PoE2 to be challenging, to play like in the videos they showed, where you have to calculate a bit hits and move not just spam abilities with the speed of light.

the problem is that they are aiming to make acts 1-10 more challenging. I would pay 5$ every league easily just NOT to play those goddamn acts over and over again. And those random oneshots from overtuned mobs?

Yep I think monster behavior or lack thereof and game speed are complete broken, but the community is asking for more broken game and to buff the worst aspects of the game.
Back in the day a dev team could make these changes no problems, but now with hordes of hive mind redditers, I don't know if it financially makes sense for GGG to improve the game. They would make a lot more money just leaving the game broken as fuck keeping retard streamer and redditors happy.

They've made a lot of changes for this league! I expect there will be a lot of broken builds. Basically a new game with the passive tree re-work, keystones, defense mechanic changes. Should be fun.
Oh No! durr hurr on reddit doesn't like some niche change and wrote 16 pages of bleh.. I better not play the game!
