The best thing about Max Payne 3 and the main reason why it's still dear to me is the fact that it was one of the very few multi-platform titles that didn't feel "consolish". Both the controlling method and shooting required precision and finesse, the lite cover system was a natural addition and not the press-to-pop-a-mole tripe (looking at you, Quantum), then the Euphoric physics and actual feedback did the rest. It's such a shame that traditional linear single-player-focused derp-free third person shooters had to basically disappear from the scene
a good game with shitty story, wrong setting and so many unskippable cutscenes after every single fight that it's impossible to replay.
I loved new york missions and airport missions. I mean the game was good but for me the real ending to max payne is this secret in Alan Wake:
Funny because all these "bad things" make me like this shooter a lot more than Gears of Wars. Specially the story, yes MP3 story isn't as good as MP1/MP2 but Gears of war was well, a boredom (aka Bores of War).
Gonna play this game again. I remeber having a great time whit it and no other "shooter" gave me the same entertainment.
Currently playing Quantum Break (remarcable game).
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
Yes, I would love to replay the game with shotguns or assoult rifles as my primary weapons. But the game insists on switching to the default pistol to stay visually consistent. Changing it back manually all the time is too bothersome to replay it a fourth time.
(me having played the game three times indicates how much I enjoyed it and how it makes this little itch all the more annoying)
I stopped bothering with the game somewhere in its middle when I first played it because I was getting really furious with the constant cutscenes, it literally killed any enjoyment I had with the very solid gameplay ( and the story was kinda meh, which didn't help me put up with it ).
I'll try it out again with this script
R5 5600X - 3070FE - 16GB DDR4 3600 - Asus B550 TUF Gaming Plus - BeQuiet Straight Power 11 750W - Pure Base 500DX
Sin317-"im 31 years old and still surprised at how much shit comes out of my ass actually ..."
SteamDRM-"Call of Duty is the symbol of the true perfection in every aspect. Call of Duty games are like Mozart's/Beethoven's symphonies"
deadpoetic-"are you new to the cyberspace?"
If GTA5 had the same animation system as GTA4 I would have finished it. But with the overly simplistic driving model and simplified shooting and hit mechanics it became boring real quick Also a reason why I didn't even install Mafia 3 even though it's free with my humble monthly shmundle
Mafia 3 has a good enough story to warrant a playthrough.
Anyway, in Max Payne 3 I found myself screaming at the screen "LET ME FUCKING PLAY THE GAME!!". I literally felt unable to play the game, constant interruptions, sometimes changing my guns, other times being too low on ammo, some fights are unforgiving too, especially since I could not get the hang of the game. I couldn't get in a gameplay "groove".
Didn't the testing revealed that? Some faggot hipster designer must have been dreaming of becoming the Quentin Tarrantino of the video game industry.
Ah that voice..... really great Youtube video thanks for sharing. I wish Remedy would do another Max Payne game rather than the crappy games they are doing now (Control honestly was subpar).
Or maybe they are not good enough for such a job and Rockstar should just do another Max Payne ? MP3 was fine after all, they kept the music and the voice actor, that was good enough for me
I recently reinstalled again cuz there is no other fix like it. Good games sport timeless gameplay.
I replay it every couple of years. It's a timeless game. MP2 is probably even better gameplay-wise, but I just don't like it as much as 1. And MP3 is something I don't plan to play ever again. I loved the shooting, but the constant cutscenes completely butchered the experience for me.

For me it's the other way around. MP1 was OK, but MP2 improved on it on every level to become one of my favorite games (shorter and more detailed levels, tighter and more involving story, no annoying nightmare labyrinth levels, more physics effects).

Dunno about QB but I liked Control. The shooting felt very close to Max Payne (I mean it's the same company lol, but don't know how many of the original devs worked in these 3 games) and the setting reminded me of a FEAR/Alan_Wake mash-up. Could've been better without those magics tho.

Agreed, I enjoyed Control as well despite its structural flaws. While it didn't reach the Remedian heights of the past it felt unique in terms of atmosphere/storytelling and the use of wild physics was quite gratifying. Oh, and Miss Faden
It definitely was an improvement over Quantum Break's uber-handhold-y attemp at merging different mediums which for me was a disappointment (as the tone of my post from 2018 conveyed). Although gaming is constantly changing and priorities have shifted over the years, I hope they will never stop making single-player focused story-based pew pewers.
