judging from how few actual on topic posts here, either everyone is superhooked playing it, or cant be bothered posting about it and its just the next hype thing that will crash n burn a month after release, and everything looks like the latter. Streams were dull as fuck
Because hump clearly has the numbers for statistics and a lot of MMO players as well.

I've played the beta in August of last year and it seemed very generic, questionable combat, empty, not a lot of quests and activites and generally it wasn't really all that interesting.
Did they manage to improve it in the last year or so?
It's like your favorite tasty good looking hamburger.
From the start, everything looks good, taste good, until you get to the middle of it, then you realize it's shit where the smell was covered behind spices.
This is the kind of game that could be good in 1-2 years given they don't abandon it or fuck up the direction along the way. So, like most MMOs, it's a gamble and if you are not really into the genre, you should probably avoid it, at least for now.

For a lot of people grinding out in a beta for a game like this that is released in a month is just plain pointless. I could understand if you are a streamer and you need something to show off as the new hot game people might want to tune in for but in general playing it is just a big waste of time.
Since this is Amazon they will be giving out so many free copies of the full game to Twitch streamers as they already are doing a streamer competition and the winning team of streamers each will get 100 copies to give out so right there is like 1000+ copies of the full game. I bet Amazon will also be paying the big partner streamers money to play this game on release so even if it is nothing special you will see 500k+ watching streams playing it on release day making it seem like it is a big hit.
I got the game for free thanks to pre-ordering it when it was originally going to be F2P and Amazon converted all those into the paid version of the game when they changed game models so I will give it a try on release but I have so many other games to play I am not going to waste time on something now that I will just have to repeat in a month.

Amazon Studios had a bunch of games they were working on back in 2016 and they allowed you to pre-order them since they were going to using the Amazon Games browser to play them. It was probably their way of wish listing the games. I am pretty sure all the other games have been canceled and New World was the only one to actually go anywhere.
One of the early Alphas for New World was using the Amazon Games browser but they probably realized people hate other browsers and they would make more just using Steam as I do not remember if that Alpha was when it was still going to be F2P or right after they announced the change in game model to paid.
I'm refunding it, I just can't see myself playing this for any extended period of time.
The only reason I played "as much" as I did in this beta, and it wasn't all that much, is because it's an OCD triggering game. It's not fun or anything, you keep doing the same thing over and over, just as in any other MMO. Except there is no good story or anything to keep you motivated, and I don't feel like doing zerg RvRvR PVP.

I kinda agree. From what I've seen, it's a better farming simulator than Farming Simulator. And I do enjoy farming as long as it's not only farming.

Same it was clear from the start this was not for me but i just wanted to try it anyway.
The factions are most likely a remnant from the first iterations of the game focused on survival and open world pvp, they since changed it to be a pvx game instead and a lot of stuff is just left over.
then they wait 5 years and then they copy wow bullshit fix where they will make same faction vs same faction balony to reduce queue problems they themselves created by their negligence of faction balance
yeah this shit is doomed to fail indeed
if u want faction vs faction, play planetside 2 , runs good and has thousands vs thousands with little to no lag ...
This RvRvR sounds like the one in Guild Wars 2. With forts sieging and skirmishes around a big map. It was super laggy for me back then on my old PC and after I got a new one (3 years ago) I have not even played GW2 to know how it's going now tho.
The PVP is on the same map you pve on. The starter area is literally the first area... So guess what side people will be inclined to chose most likely ^^ Hint: Probably the side that holds the starter area they're in ^^

But all content is not in the game yet, there might be more areas ment for pvp later on?

Well, maybe, but the main pvp is still open PVP. There are Fortresses and stuff like that in the different zones. And you get bonuses while holding a zone etc.
The world design gets better the more you go north. But yeah, the PvE is lackluster and to be honest, without arenas, the PvP experience is lacking as well.
