God i hate this game. I've been playing it on and off for years. I used to love it but kind of never completed it.
I decided I had to finish it now and since I already had a level 71 character I might aswell use that one.
But noo...im not supposed to finish it apparently. I keep running into bugs and glitches. Options that dont appear, things disapear, things missing etc etc. What a piece of junk this game is.
I can understand if there are bugs in a newly released game - but a game thats been ported several times and out for years? (and includes a special editions).
I knew it had alot of bugs...but holy shit. /uninstall.
(and yeah, i know...Bethesda)
Just had to get that out.
/rant off
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.
I had a similar idea once and wanted to finish it but forgot to install the unofficial patch. Guess what. Main quest got bugged somewhere along the way.
Now I installed it again with a couple of mods and I'm at the beginning of the game once again
Yep, installing at least the community patches is practically mandatory if you don't want to waste tour time with TES or the nuFallouts. Bethesda have traditionally never cared about fixing broken stuff since someone else punctually does it for them, like some sort of passive-aggressive laziness. Hell, if it weren't for all the great mods/patches and QoL additions I would have probably never finished nor properly enjoyed any of the Bethgames over the years.
They should just pay these modders and include the fixes to the games, then they can add them to console versions too.. If Rockstar can do it, Bethesda can.

I totally agree! That was a kickass move by rockstar!

Arthmoor's inflated ego would blow up the internet if that happened.

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
So for the triple dip this time they are not giving it for free to everyone who owns it all and I am pretty sure at least the Survival and fishing things were free before. Guess Bethesda felt the $7.5 billion they got from Microsoft was not enough so it was time to try and nickel and dime players again on an old game.
game is still immensely popular it seems
i receive ~$110 alone / monthly for my mod on TESnexus, been like that for years now, i think it actually went up a little.
personally i think its a really overrated TES title, probably my least favorite.
You really prefer Oblivion to Skyrim?
I can understand Morrowind, it's prolly my fav Elder Scrolls game, but Oblivion always felt so bland and meh to me. Maybe I should give it another try at some point.

I tried to get into Skyrim again last year, but even with the Wabbajack (or what's its name) mod compendium I couldn't stand it and uninstalled after a few days, the engine aged really bad for me.

yes, Oblivion is great. love the very generic fantasy setting, reminds me of so many great games and movies.. i totally get that cozy might and magic, ultima vibe from it... many of the quests are very imaginative and fun.
Morrowind is also better than Skyrim, but not my favorite apart from the setting itself (which isn't generic, it's quite unique).
I tend not to like snowy areas at all in games, even desert is better. i just think its such a bland biome.

Personally, it's been a pretty similar situation for me with all their games. I just find them so incredibly dull, no matter how many mods I install. There's never any thought put into the gameplay of their games besides for it to just... work. Writing is just awful and I never found the TES universe interesting, but that is very subjective, I know. They're good sandboxes, especially with such a strong modding community, but that doesn't do anything for me. I don't see my relationship with their games ever changing honestly.

Writing is absolutely awful in 99% of all games. I would never ever play a game for its writing, and games who focuses on its (terrible) writing are even worse. I like Bethesda's games because they do offer the best "make your own adventure" type of gameplay, which after all, is where this medium excels.
The best way for me to truly enjoy Skyrim was to add all the survival-based modules alongside Requiem, which boosted the immersion factor and made exploring much more challenging and rewarding. No level scaling, stamina-based movements, better stats distribution, every single encounter felt tense. It was essentially the same treatment that I applied to Fallout 4 as well, turning it into a punishing Stalkerian experience was the only way to overcome Bethesda's abysmal writing and poor RPG elements.
Oblivion was different, a huge downgrade from Morrowind that felt more like a consolish lost cause than anything else, but thankfully mods such as Oscuro's Overhaul that got rid of level scaling and the many visual/UI upgrades actually made it enjoyable.
No modern TES comes close to SureAI's projects though, Enderal and Nehrim are what Skyrim and Oblivion should have been in the first place and put Bethesda to shame when it comes to writing, quests and encounters, combat balance and Gothic-esque map design brimming with secrets. Enderal SE is well optimized too, Talos bless those guys
i enjoyed oblivion the most when i did not go to kvatch and did not open any oblivion gates lol. The expansion was better , some really funky quests like the one with the mirror
Even without checking the video, no way anything there is worth the downside of (last I read) this update breaking *at least* SKSE64 and who knows what else.
Well, maybe unless you're a derpsolero, which I'd say is the real target audience of this update.
EDIT: Yep. The concert will probably be pretty cool though, skyrim easily has one of the best OST's ever
