Just use the System Requirements Lab if you want to know how the game will perform with your hardware.

Don't you guys know anything, the recommended specs will run the game fine, but you won't be able to max it all.

This srtest.com is bullshit! It just tells you what could run the game good and if ya have a pentium mobile or a athlon 64 with not enough MHZ then you loose the test even if your cpu is as fast as 4-4,5ghz!
Plz fuck this page!

The devs are apparently running the game on a:

Barton 2500+, 1GIG of RAM, and a ATI 9800Pro

I will also be dloading it to see if it runs on my rig. Will buy if I am pleased with the optimization. I read some disturbing things today on Voodoo Extremes site about the XSUX360 version. I am praying that this disease doesn't infect the PC version.

[Muad|Dib]

What are you talking about? This is all I got from their hands-on preview about performance:-

Quote:
Graphics look like they're still being optimized. The rig they set me up on was a powerhouse--a Dell 3.4GHz packed with an ATI X1900 512MB card. The video settings were set at a modest 1280x768 and anti-aliasing was turned off. There were some occasional stutters, and I could (albeit on rare occasions) see some stitching lines between textures. Performance seemed pretty similar for this machine as it was for the Xbox 360s running Oblivion on the other side of the room.

AnimalMother, I was just talking about something I read on Voodoo Extreme yesterday. Here is what I was reading from:
Some more Oblivion previews are online from the late bloomers (no pun intended). Check 'em out at Gamespy, Game Revolution, Gamepro, plus Wired, which points out some shortcomings of the Xbox 360 version. We played and previewed the PC build (cough). Here's a bit about some problems the 360 had:

When I got outside, things got hairy. I could see across to the other side of a lake, but it was completely undetailed. Just big, formless blobs of blues and greens. I turned around and looked at my more immediate surroundings and realized that the draw distance was awful. As you walk around, the ground teems with individually rendered blades of grass, bushes, mushrooms, all sorts of stuff. But only a small radius around your character is fully realized -- the rest of it is drawn in, quite visibly, as you move around.

This is the HD Era? Watching bushes and trees pop up out of thin air as I walk around? At one point I was heading towards what I thought was an empty forest clearing, when big-ass chunks of building started magically appearing. Come on. (Or maybe I was doing so well in the game that its denizens had started building shrines to my glory.)

This sounds horrendous. I was just hoping that the PC version works a lot better than the 360 version. From the sound of it the 360 version is unplayable IMHO. Hopefully this guy was smoking crack. Otherwise there are going to be a lot of 360 owners that are going to be looking for the first bridge to jump off of. Razz

The day can not come fast enough. I am starving for an awesome RPG! I just pray they didn't mess this game up. You know what, even if they did mess it up they will patch it up real nice. If it's not optimized correctly they will tweak it and release a patch that fixes any optimization problems. I am very confident this will be a great gaming experience for all of us!! Now, all we need to hear after Oblivion is released is that Elder Scrolls V: Enlightenment is being worked on!Very Happy

[Muad|Dib], that does sound bad. But I can't see the PC version being any better seeing as the devs have repeatedly stated that to get a graphical experience similar to the 360 version, you'll need a top of the range rig.

Lets be honest here, the 360 is at least as capable as the most modern PC's, so if they can't manage to optimise it for that, when there is only one hardware configuration to consider, what hope do PC owners have.

Check this: -

Quote:
GamingTrend has an excellent audio preview, comparing the 2 versions. Here's a quick summary:
# The 360 version has a smoother and more consistent framerate.

# There is a little grass/bush popup, but it is worse on the PC version.

# The Radiant AI is cool... The reviewer saw rats attacking a zombie.

# He (and the Bethesda rep) thought the XBox360 version was superior to the PC version.

I've seen previews where they said the opposite (iGN i think was one of them). But it wouldnt matter to me if PC version is worse (VERY unlikely however). The mods are the most important thing for a game like this, just like with MW.. The game can only get better from here on on the PC, in 1-2 years im sure it'll be about twice as good. Im also looking forward to do my own mods.

The loading times will also be better on PC (esp. for us who have RAID0 SATA or SCSI), fast loading times is very important imo.

Well i'll just buy the PC version in two years then, when the hardware to run it maxed is pretty cheap. Laughing

Who cares about mods for the first few months anyway.

AnimalMother,

GASP!!! That is no good. You are right but I still feel the PC will have a better experience because its performance can be optimized. But, who really knows. One reviewer says one thing and another a different thing. This will be up to the gamers to decide which is the better version.

I remember when Morrowind first came out, it was only the very best computers that could run it at full whack. It'll probably be the same with Oblivion. At least they design games which will still look good a couple of years down the line.

The reason i'm getting the 360 version is twofold.

1. I either buy a new graphics card, or get a 360. But there are other 360 games I want to play.

2. I want to play it in bed. Razz

My current computer is not really capable of running Oblivion to my satisfaction, so I guess I am biased towards the 360 version.

When it comes down to it though, if one version is obviously superior to the other, thats the version i'll be getting. I can bear running the PC version on medium settings if it means I can get a good draw distance.

Klinge, yes, I played Action HL and The specialists alot a while back. Smile

Hells Yeah, AnimalMother!

I just installed a projector and 12 foot pull down Da-Lite screen and surround sound in my bedroom. Being able to play games in bed and watch movies is awesome. Plus you don't get uninvited guests hanging out to watch free theater. I agree. I am buying the 360 version. I have to buy one because I always have supported bethesda.

Anyway, theres nothing wrong with being single. Do you have self-esteem issues?

Very good, that sounds like a sound plan to me! All in all I hope both version live up to Bethesda's quality standards. God knows they know what they are doing and have a great track record. Each games has gotten better and better. Elder Scrolls, don't really remember but I think it has some issue right out of the box. I don't even have to bring up Daggerfall........POS out of box LOL! But great after patches. Morrowind had some issue but not even close to Daggerfall. I am predicting Oblivion to be the best yet. Fingers X !!

No one can knock you for having a plan for Oblivion play AnimalMother. Anyone that does is jealous! And, I must say I wanted a 360 for that one game.........Elemental something? Damn, cannot remember. It reminded me of a Ghouls 'N Ghosts type game but in the third person.

Buying a 400$ console + 300$ worth of equipment, for a 60-70$ game, I call a fucking waste.

If I want to play from the bed, I just connect a gamepad to my PC, connect it to the screen, and play emulators, or platform games.

And they're all basically free.

Consoles will never be worth it in my world, regardless of the visual splendour.
