Yeah the armour thing is terrible, heavy is the only option and its not as strong as naked combinations. I know!! balance the whole game around it > ignoring just about all armour in the game! also balance encounters around 3 CC spells > now i can ignore 90% of all the spells in the game that arn't meta!
---
Anyway you can customize the difficulty with imo the #1 problem setting being the enemy stat adjustments. if you set that to zero/core you wont have a fun time role playing and need to meta everything.

I actually wasn't expecting a tight balance with this Pathfinder 1.5. But I thought they'll put more effort into it, since this is a cRPG and the expectations are different than those of playing a PnP.
I think my expectations were too high in this regard. There are various oversights passed down from the original which were probably much easier to fix like having to scroll through the party UI for pets, both clicks selecting characters, hitboxes, the pathfinder doing circles, etc.
The development time was too short for an RPG of this caliber. Even the writing suffers because of this and I'm not sure why they were in such a hurry. Nevertheless, it's still a pretty good RPG (so far).

What do you mean why? Money - they have a sizable team and every year costs them $$$.

Kingmaker sold well so they probably have a sizeable bank account. The sequel was also crowdfunded and given the launch of the first game, I don't think they'll wanna make a reputation like that. But given the purchase lineup for this release, they could becoming one of those developers...

From their discord:
Quote: | Crusaders! An important announcement: We are now working on an issue that turned out to be really serious and the fix deeply affected the internal structure of the game.
Please note that if you saved after using respec in Act II or further, your saved game may remain corrupted, potentially blocking your playthrough. Mythic Demon and Lich are the most affected by this problem.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused, and strongly recommend to revert back to a save made before respeccing. Please stay away of the respec function up until the next patch. The problem will be gone then. |

Wanted to jump in, but it seems like it's the buggiest of messes ATM.
Do you think it will be fine in a few patches, or better wait a solid year or so?

Just check the volume of fixes for each patch that comes out.
When you see the list of fixes getting shorter / less critical, you know game is nearing it's completion.

Welp, I definitely saved after using respec multiple times in acts 2 and 3 on the lich path. Is there anything more specific about what exactly gets fucked?

Someone claimed toybox just calls the ingame respec function so... I dunno.
I guess I'll just start anew, slap it on easiest difficulty and RTWP my way back to where I was. Wonder how long that will take.

But I will not yield. Redownloading some shitty rip now. |
I have given up on re-re-re-downloading the final version or some new patch (that will be followed, most certainly by a dozen other new versions or patches). And the thing is: you DO NEED those updates, as they usually fix important stuff.
Best DRM, indeed.

Much much much better. I'll take the bugs and the balance issues any day over cheap progression and uninspired writing.

The game needs another 6mo minimum IMO, I've just started playing kingmaker as i only got around halfway through that game instead. The type of bugs are indicative of serious problems under the hood, no word on what was happening with respec, last they said respec'ing after act2 breaks mythic paths and future patching will corrupt the savegames so i dunno.

Tried at least 3 times to play and 'like' D:OS2. But I didn't connect in any way with the world design. It felt unnatural, artificial, cluttered with nonsense props like out of place vegetation and unremarkable architecture. And the writing / dialogue... I don't even...
Now, what do you mean with this 'cheap progression'?

Eh, but people praise this game like it's the second coming.

People praise and overhype a lot of games that are deeply flawed. I could name 5-6 such titles without even having to think about it.

So this has better writing, more serious tone? I kinda like the chill and goofy vibe of DOS2 but it's more of a timewaster than something actually gripping. Gotta say I'm no D&D goblin tho so micromanaging obscure stats n shit can be quite intimidating.

They do provide a lot more information nowadays through tutorials and tooltips. For example, I think most negative effects that you get have info on how to remove them. But the game has a complex progression system, no matter how you look at it and you'll have to understand a bunch of mechanics to play in an optimal way.

Yes, I know.
@The_Zeel
This game's launch status, despite tons of bugs, was miles ahead of CP. Fundamental systems ARE working properly, the world is built and complete here.
IMO, with such games, it's a risk you'll have to assume, no matter WHEN you choose to play it. You KNOW bugs will occur, maybe even in the Definitive version, but you have real life saving throws for those (reload saves, look for fixes) and keep 'pathfinding' until the end, despite the odds.

I lost over 100 hours of gameplay because of a game-breaking save corruption bug, which the developers specifically said can't be fixed with a patch, and it's an easy to trigger common bug that would affect many, many other people as well. This alone puts CP way ahead in my books. I think the game is more complete than Cyberpunk was, as in it has most of the content they envisioned for it, but it's bugs are numerous and often catastrophic. In Cyberpunk the frequent bugs were relatively harmless.

Game-breaking bugs were reported the (first?) second day after launch.
