I've used the multi desktop function in Win10 for years with WIN+TAB and clicking the + sign that creates a new desktop where you can move/open new windows/apps.
Anyway, I've got until 2025 to wait for the bugs and issue to be ironed out. To me it seems Windows 11 is mainly a reskinned Windows 10 borrowing a lot from Apple aesthetics.
For my test usage case: it was to have VMware, CRM, and bug reporting software for work on one, and games, browser, whatever running on the other while at work to more organize it as I went back and forth during the day.
But ended up being more hassles than just alt-tabbing to the screen I needed because it was even more clicks/keys on multi-desktop.
With two monitors its even more of a pain as now i have '4' monitors worth of stuff, 2 of I cannot see. its like having 2 machines with a KVM switch to try to work with. With 3 screens seems it would be even worse.
Im positive people have better reasons than I to want to use it. Just for me its less convenient, and just more 'oh cool' vibe to the idea of it. But in my use case the idea of it was not the same as the practicality of it.

So if a window is minimized (Say Discord) and you drag a JPG to the Discord icon at the taskbar, it won't pop the window up just like it happens in W10?

Also this:
Accessing the Task Manager app is also not possible from the “right click menu” on the Taskbar; you have to search for it now.
I dont know how many times a week I use that during work. Searching for it is going to be nickel and diming work efficiency time down a lot.

it's still available on my start menu if you right click it
Thats good, long as some right click somewhere works
Will just take me awhile not to muscle memory click the taskbar.

While I and many others will likely use open/classic shell anyways from the get go, but why remove small shortcuts like these that have existed for decades? Someone in testing that had never seen it before opened it, started messing around and fucked up their PC?

What is the practical use of multi desktop? I don't really understand the benefit as you still need to switch between them, so you might as well switch between the apps itself.
One desktop = full screen adobe photoshop or pro-tools or even a game.
Second desktop = browser or any other app, Total Commander for working with files
Third desktop = maximized photo folder with big thumbnails for dragging/dropping photos/pictures into photoshop or similar..
Indeed. I often work on several word documents/pdfs/browser text at the same time on one desktop. Easy switching to a different desktop just for doing something else like launching a game or having a browser for whatever else without needing to min/max the other stuff is just very practical.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

CTRL+SHIFT+ESC ftw
Cant send keyboard commands like that over VMware with a remote desktop connection in it, GotoAssist, or Teamviewer. It does it on your own machine (or the VM you are on in VMware).

i'd like to try AutoHDR since Win10's HDR is just completely fubar...
..but i'm pretty sure it's not going to be worth the "update"
No need to install win11 for that just join win10 insider or wait till the next feature upgrade it should be included by then.
this is what i figured would happen when they first made it available in insider May(?) update... alas it seems it hasn't carried over to retail updates as of yet.

This is like showing someone that you can break into your house by looking for a hidden key in their bushes.

Yesterday, work W10 laptop, joining a zoom, doing some work on second monitor meanwhile, using snipping tool of W10, complete crash... How the fuck is this possible, a stock w10 install with only office applications....
hardware issue, software issue, driver issue, driver conflict, old driver, service corruption.
Could be 101 reasons. "Fresh install" nor "stock install" means really anything for ability to crash (software or hardware) for various reasons.
Not defending windows itself. Pointing out "How does this happen on a basic install", the answer is the same as one installed for 5 years: Many many possible reasons some unrelated to the OS at all and either software or hardware, some related to it.
I have a laptop here, if I turn on webcam while anything is using the GPU..it blue screens. 2 windows installs later. figured out its a hardware/webcam issue.
