In fact, I would be perfectly willing to spend the same amount of money for less width, less curve, if the other specs are the same for a 42" or less version that monitor.
Flat, if it was a TV/monitor hybrid, slightly-curved, if it was less than 32-42" and for desk usage. That would be perfect.
Seems like only Micro-LED can top Mini-LED, right? So Mini-LED would be pretty future proof as well.
Mini led is not good enough in my opinion for HDR, it still shows halo / glow effects pretty badly, micro led is probably good enough, OLED is still so good compared to these, since every pixel can be turned off, looks flawless.

I think micro LED is an actual competitor to OLED. So maybe they get rid of the remaining of flaws of current OLED. Current micro led TVs (Samsung? Sony?) are pretty expensive though I heard so I didn't look into it. Next year Samsung should release a new RGB competing with the LG displays, which will be interesting as well.
ultra wide is a farce, OLED tvs are the new monitors
Yep. Monitors are dead. And if you think it's too bit, it's not
Btw. It's a copy of LG C1 48" but LG is better and cheaper. This gigabyte makes no sense.
Next year there will be 42" models.

Im gonna get the 42" model when it comes (might be just good size), 48" is just way too big for me to watch comfortably on normal desk with like 1 meter distance. Not gonna use it as main monitor tho, i could not stand OLED burn in in any form, i would notice it immediately.
Thats bad enough for me to never get one as main dispaly.

Yeah, not going for OLED either in the near future, not until they've solved the burn-in issue or high density led-lighting (ie. one mini-led for each pixel) with proper HDR (HDR 1000+) becomes somewhat affordable (which will probably happen in 2030 or something).

Yeah, using OLED TVs for PC monitors here as well. There's just no going back, nothing else compares.
And that's the thing.. I've never used an OLED TV or monitor so I can't compare and thus I don't feel that my current 47" TV which I'm using with my PC is lacking. It's when you get used to something that is bigger/better and then try to go back to the previous stuff that you feel "sad" while you get used to it.
I remember way back when Plasma TV's became the norm for big flat tv's. When I visited my sister and her family they had bought one and it had burn-in issues and other issues like difficulties getting the right aspect ratios leading to stretched out pictures which they had gotten so used to that they found the proper AR look weird. They had gotten used to the burn-in in the corners (tv channel symbols and faint subtitle blurs at the bottom). They had no choice since the TV was expensive as f**k and they couldn't afford to replace it.
i went OLED a few years back, talked about (possible) burn-ins here and i got shit for it - "not possible" - (can't bother to dig up the post), and yeah here we are, got burn-in like 1.5 year ago it's a square in the middle. I guess its the youtube window from when watching streams.
doesnt make the TV unusable though.. i recently compared the image quality to my other monitor that i have for 3D Vision (ROG Swift PG278QR) .. it's really laughable how bad it is, it's like there's a grey filter on top of everthing. sunny weather never looks sunny, on the OLED its basically like looking out the window, perfect representation.

I'd wager that's not burn in, but a manufacturing error in 2017 models
unfortunately it can only be fixed by getting an lg technician to fix it or send it in for repair.

Every OLED can have burn in, its just nature of the tech, some wont notice it, some people can see everything. I have used several different LG OLED TVs at work in exhibition usage, and all of them have burn in.
OLED sucks in almost all aspects. PWM is the worst, I'd never buy it for that alone.

so in other words a manufacturing problem causing burn in, how's that not a burn in again?
I still don't regret the purchase because its just so many times better than anything else i've seen, but its also one of the more expensive things i've bought so it kind of sucks when its damaged.
OLED sucks? yeah sure, again with this forum - people claiming something totally blows but like always refusing to mention what's better, lol.. joke's on you and no one thinks you're cool because you drop "it sucks" for what's currently the best, be it graphics, tech...
it's not burn in because it's a broken firmware correction by the screen.
as shown in the video, a technician can update the firmware to fix the issue and remove the square.
burn in wouldn't be solvable without a new panel.
it looks like burn in though, not arguing that.
I have the issue too on my 55" B7D, but I only see it in dark, reddish scenes, which is exceedingly rare, so it doesn't bother me much. I've had the TV for about 4 years now and have so far not seen real burn in.
other than that, picture quality is superb. I still can't get over the black black. Love how the screen looks turned off when it's just pure black.
The rectangle is a bummer but overall I'm still happy with my purchase and will probably get an oled again next time. still several years off though.

I assume all OLEDs have noticably degraded pixels, but LGs correction seems to work just fine for most use cases.

How do they suck in almost all aspects? I could actually say that about CRT, LCD and Plasma, but not OLED. OLED have a very few flaws left to deal with.
I googled the PWM issue, because I thought they didn't flicker at all and here is a measurement by rtings of the LG C8 apparently. It seems to be mostly just on. Do you have any other data. I use my OLED with very low luminance most of the time and I see no flicker even out the corner of my eye. Now I am _not_ the most sensitive to flicker, but I'm usually the most sensitive in any group I've been in

The thing is, I have never, ever owned any TV or monitor before this OLED that hasn't pissed me off or had me hoping for something better. That's including the top Sony and Samsung 21-22" CRT's, supposedly high-end Eizo 1k€ LCD monitors, high end LCD and Plasma TV's from Panasonic, Samsung and Sony. Everything just pissed me off one way or another. The day I bought my first OLED, the LG B7, that stopped. It was the first display I was ever happy with, and now having gone through several different LG OLED's, I'm still happy.

Dont understand why LG wont make 32" OLED TV, it would sell like hot cakes as monitor, but guess they will wait and release "monitor" instead that has 5x higher price than TV.
I believe the manufacturing process simply does not lend itself for lower sizes. Just like Samsung and others could not simply use the process for smartphone displays for larger sizes.
