Well, better than Sekiro but still far away from all the possible choices from the souls games... maybe. Still need to know more. |
The classes in the Souls game didn't mean all that much, so I don't see a problem.
Sekiro is a very different type of game, the comparison is pointless.
Also, here's the twitter post from the official account, for those who don't wanna give clicks to that joke of a website:

Indeed. Classes and gear made only a difference in the beginning. Some people will probably argue min maxing though even if it's quite unnoticeable.

It's all about the money and less about innovation, creativity and evolution.
This looks exactly like an open world Dark Souls. Would have been SO DAMN HARD to create a different, original art style for this 'nEw' title?!
"Hey, let's spend as less money as possible and rehash everything we can! The aveRaGe player won't even notice the same animations, same sound effects, same textures, same classes, same gameplay, same bosses, same UI, same style, same artistic direction."
It's a nEw game, folks!

But it's a japanese game. Not so many japanese games are visually stunning and focus more on the gameplay and development time. I'm kinda glad. I'd rather have 3 games in 5 years than maybe 1 game in 5 years cause it looks fantastic.

It's worth noting that developing a game in Japan is extremely expensive.

games in general is very expensive over there. Either they're all very rich or i don't get it. Especially for this neet lifestyle

I generally like what I saw, but the combat seems to be exactly what we had previously... This could have really used some more visceral combat with more impact on player and enemy hits, including being able to see damage on the characters. Think God of War.
Basically you and the enemy hit each other until poise/stagger occurs. I will of course play this but expected a bit more tbh... Doesn't look "next-gen"...

A PC game with console limiting controls is an insult for anyone with at least an average IQ.
Anyone can see how artificially limited the character moves and fights. It's the same story with ANY souls game. Half the difficulty comes exclusively from using the limiting controls.
Yet... disappointingly, people praise this, unaware of how much, much, MUCH better the controls can be on PC for such a game.

disappointingly people have to throw around insults cause people have different opinions. Dark souls gameplay is just completely fine in my eyes. It just works and you can check the popularity of the series for evidence for that. It's fine you want more, but drop the "U like it u dumm" attitude.

You are too sensitive, taking it too personally.
There was no finger pointing towards players, there was NO implying that people that like the game have some... lower than average IQ. (Even if might seems like so, it's not. You could LIKE the game and still be aware of it's problems. Just read again that post.) There was no insulting on ANY type of player in my post. The discontent was directed towards FS.
I liked DS1 and played over 100 hours of it, despite fighting the CONTROLS most of the time. BUT I never bought it, as it was clear that was not a game made with love for PC gamers in mind. And that's just fine FOR ME, as I can respond with my wallet to this. The same goes for Dark Souls 2, 3 and Sekiro.
But defending with such ardor and considering the series (or Elden Ring) as some second coming, considering it perfect... - as some people seem to do - is such a DISAPPOINTING (again, yeah) situation. Especially if you are a PC gamer.

But you see balckie. Someone will love what you hate. You will hate what someone loves. What you see as simplistic will feel refreshing for others. Its fast paced, no bullshit visceral cutscenes every second kill. Just hack and slash your way through the games. But this is the general gameplay. Whwn we speak of refinements of the system i agree. Its hard going back to dark souls 1 after 3 as it feels dated, and it is dated. But the gameplay style of the series is fantastic.

I don't hate, I dislike.
And yes... in theory / on paper, the gameplay is fantastic, almost perfect. 'Tis the reason I clenched my butt-cheeks and finished that piece of shit - tech-wise - first release of DS1 (saved by Durante) TWICE!
But in practice (especially on PC), the whole series sucks ass due to the controls.

Same here. No point in getting it for PC next to PS5 if that's the case. TVs are light years ahead in terms of HDR.

There are some awkward controls that i would like fixed also. Jumping and kicking are two at the top of my head. Jumping was better in 2 though if i'm not mistaken.

Hopefully the HDR works properly on PC also. Since on PS5 you have tradeoffs. 4k 30 fps or 1080p(?) 60 fps. On pc i can run this game 4k 60 fps no problem. World is likely dead except for enemies to kill and the environments aren't exactly spectacular. Japanese games aren't usually very demanding.

its not because of the TV, I can play PC version on my LG CX as well, but HDR implementation in PC games is mostly horrible, except for a very few games.

Can't some of this be remedied with reshade though?

Depends on how exactly the HDR implementation is broken in a given game. Sometimes it's an easy enough fix for a washed out image or whatever, but sometimes it's so fundamentally broken with horrible banding and whatnot that there's not much you can do.
PC gets a lot of flak for it's HDR implementation but it's really not as bad as it's made out to be. Most games work just fine in HDR and most that have problems have the same problems on consoles too.

I find that most often when i enable HDR the game looks bright and washed out, but i don't exactly have anyone to compare it with. No HDR looks has worked best for me.

If it works properly light sources should look like actual real-life lights inside the TV, e.g light bulbs.. colors should pop a lot more (e.g neon light signs etc). my experience is that PC HDR looks a bit worse or just isn't even implemented. it has gotten better though (driver or windows problems with HDR).
PC 60 FPS is no problem if you have a good PC... PS5 graphics is like RTX 2080 Ti, so really awesome for the little money it costs.

What HDR display are you using and which games are you trying out with HDR?
Optimally you'd want something like a higher end OLED TV to have a good HDR experience. PC monitors tend to be very gimped in HDR. Most manufacturers are just happy to tick a box and leave it there.
