Agreed! At first I wasn't sure it would deliver as a single-player experience but it definitely did. The subtle narrative and sense of exploration aren't as masterful as Subnautica's (the undisputed king in the genre Razz), but they're very solid and the survival elements aren't nosy.
There's nothing better than descending into a dark cave while getting chased by naked skinny cannibals, only to find an army of hungry 6-legged spider mutants living down there Dude Happy

This looks really good. The first one was already one of the best kickstarter games I've played. They've earned some trust in making a good sequel.

Also glad they're keeping the general visual aesthetics the same.

Nice, it's early to tell but it does not give the impression of being a filthy imposter. If they polish up the rough bits and add even more depth to its already solid core mechanics while offering (again) interesting mystery/lore for SP junkies like me, then I'll be a happy cowman.

Judging by both the trailers, half expecting a romantic subplot between the protagonist and mutant girl Laughing

1 and 2 are still amazing.

Actually looked quite cool.. maybe its more bearable to play survival games if you have a companion (usually not fond of them in games).

What does out mean here, out in early access or out as in a product that is pretty close to finished? these days i never know, and sometimes its pretty much the same thing.

And props also to the devs for giving us the option if we dont want a cmpanion.

Dunno about being "out" but the original forest was a decent experience even already in early access. If the devs haven't changed their ways too much I have high hopes even if its an EA titel. Plus they already delayed release already once, so signs are good.

It’s been a long journey since we first started ‘Sons of The Forest’ development and it’s grown into the biggest most complex game we have ever made. There is still so much more we want to add; items, new mechanics, gameplay balance and more. We didn’t want to delay again so have instead decided to involve the community in the continued development of this project and keep our February 23rd release date but instead release in Early Access.

‘The Forest’ turned out to be a massive success, due mostly to the awesome community and the suggestions, feedback, and bug reports the players shared with us. We are really excited and hope that players want to come on this new journey with us to make this the ultimate survival horror simulator.

The team at endnight

Oh well, I shall patiently wait for the 1.0 version as I did with the first one (and with every single Early Access game out there Razz), hoping for a similar outcome.

Confused
First one was Early Access stuff for quite a while, why would you expect the sequel to be different?

Because there's a considerable time period between the release of the previous game and this one. The game had no Early Access on Steam and as far as I am aware Early Access was not mentioned until now.

I saw nothing suggesting it was going to Early Access either right up until they announced the final Date, still most likely going to get it day one.

You guys were right, this never was early access:
https://www.eurogamer.net/sons-of-the-forest-will-release-in-early-access-rather-than-be-delayed-again

Quote:
After "one last" delay for Sons of the Forest late last year, developer Endnight Games has announced the horror will release in Early Access at the end of this month rather than be delayed again.

Endnight says it's made the decision to release in early access in order to "involve the community in the continued development of this project" - which it says led to the "massive success" of predecessor The Forest - whilst also "keep[ing its] 23rd February release date".
New trend unlocked? Will Starfield release this year in Early Access too? Laughing

Waiting for this one myself.
Enjoyed the first one just a few months ago with friends going in totally blind in co-op. Didnt look into anything and 'figured it out as we went'. Didn't do any of the story (Suppose to look for a kid I think? Kept finding pics he drew). But the survival aspect with threats while doing it was a lot of fun.

Yeah some are surprisingly rough, not that the first was particularly stellar in that department either. But that along with the early access means I'll hold out for some reviews first at the very least.
