So I just watched it and it was pretty funny. Why are people so worked up about it?
Probably because he stated, quite simply and rightfully so, that gender is a fact and not open to interpretation.
The mentally ills lost their shit, as per usual, despite his incredibly positive story about a tranny fan who supported him at one point on twitter, got dragged through the mire on Twitter by his own community, and offed himself shortly thereafter.
There's no point in wasting either energy or compute cycles in trying to reason with or understand lunatics. Just gotta ignore them and carry on - unfortunately the majority of the world doesn't seem to be able to grasp that.

Sex is biological, gender is largely social. You have a penis, you're a biological man, you have a vagina, you're a biological woman.
But you can feel like a man and/or be attracted to women eventhough you are a biological woman or vis versa, in which case you can have a gender different from your sex. What defines how you feel is a very complex issue that encompasses both natural causes (ex. motherly hormones during pregnancy that influence the growing faetus (there are studies on it), but also other factors, which I don't explicitly know) and physiological causes like hormonal balance.
There are very few occurrances where the biological sex isn't so clearly defined though but those are very rare. Still they do exist.
Doctors generally don't care about gender when they treat a patient. That should be a clue for the clueless.
Many people have had a very weird or no sex education. Conservative religious people treat sex like its something special that should mostly not be discussed (so their ideas are often quite outdated) and generally many people, including the LTGBQBBQ people mix up their explanations alot and somehow are offended by biological facts about sex. Some even deny the science completely. Idiots everywhere.
edit: Maybe I should add that there are often social constructs added to the biological sex, f.e. what we expect of people because they have a specific sex (jobs they do etc.). Those issues are imo being solved.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
If when you popped out from between your mother's legs you had a penis, you're a man. If not, woman. That's it (barring super rare cases when neither is fully formed) - all there is to it with regards to sex, and by extension, gender. Sexual orientation or preference doesn't enter into it. Feelings don't enter into it.
If someone has a penis but "feels" they are a woman they need help of some sort - what that help consists of I'm not going to pretend to know as I'm not a licensed psychiatrist.
All of this modern day bullshit is more or less the equivalent of people telling others suffering from schizophrenia that they should listen to the voices inside their head. That's not going to end well for anyone involved.
And if for whatever reason one doesn't want help - that's fine - as long as they shut the fuck up about it and stop forcing their bullshit on other people. What you do inside your own head/bedroom is your business - until you start involving others.

So what you are saying is that homosexuality can be cured? It's a mental illness?
I'm not sure how on earth that's the message you took away from my post (if something was lost in translation or you even read it all?) but no, that's not what I said.
Feel free to be gay all you want. But if I see some dude out and about in a skirt and lipstick, and he approaches me and insists that I refer to him as a woman in our conversation - I'm going to call it like I see it, that's all. He may see himself as that, but I most certainly do not, and will not indulge his fantasy.

While I do not fully agree with the: There are infinite genders, just get the 'do it yourself' home kit and make a new one up on your own. And the whole "I am a non-binary, gender fluid, poly feminine...etc" stuff is just people trying to 'out unique' others to be more special by "Gather ALL the uniqueness!"
And do not support at ALL the pressure cooker explosion of over correction. Sloooow pressure build up on discrimination reaching a point that the lid blows off and turns into the aggressive approach being taken by some to make it recognized.
That said: Your statement is socially, biologically, and by scientific distinction wrong.
If you popped out with a penis, you are biologically (sex) male. Gender is not sex.
While again I do not fully support the idea that there is an explosion of new 'home-brew' ones. MANY cultures over time have had more than two genders, but only two sexes.
Spoiler:
--Rome (or was it Greece) Young males in the act of pederasty was considered as 'not full male gender' due to societal norms of the time of what 'Coming of age to a man' was. They was not 'masculine man' gender, they was some sort of pre- different one.
--Tahitians, Hawaiians and Mahu have has had for a while a third one to describe someone between man and woman (Androgynes, fills neither a masculine nor feminine communal role).
--Some Native Americans had 4 (feminine woman, masculine woman, feminine man, and masculine man).
--Ancient Egypt had three: sḫt, tai, hmt.
--In Modern Asia (can't remember where) there has been for quite a while a third gender for the group of sex workers that cross 'sexual normality man + woman only' that both men and women workers fall into.
And I suppose you could counter with "That is just them lying to themselves about their sex to get around social expectations" which is partially true(ish) but in a wrong 'chickens before the egg' type of way...in the fact that those social expectations and moral standards are fabricated by us to start with. They are just 'made up as we go', and not universally objective to the 'sex' of anyone, exactly like genders are also.
Genders conform and are created by that society to group people that do not 'fit' into typical: Those with male genitals are/do this; Those with females genitals are/do this.
So I think the confusion comes down to people growing up not knowing the difference between gender and sex and always assumed they was the same since they grew up on a two sexes, two gender region.
And stalwart stubbornness that "It's how I misunderstood it for so long, that I will continue to because its ingrained in me now".
NOW as I said the current movements way of trying to point this out, is aggressive, sometimes outright wrong way to do it. And overly toxic.
But what the movement is for is not nullified by it. Just the approach of that movement is wrong/harmful.

Well to be honest, there is a shortcoming in the language where the default case is always masculin. If you say "where is my friend?" in english it doesn't specify if it's male or female. In german it's always male if you do not specifically state the female form.
And this mainly started as a female customer of a bank got tired of all written communication treating all customers as if they are men only.
Now the stars/colon are shitty choices, but trying to find the nominative case for each group is fucking tedious.
