i am curious as to what you guys will make of it... personally i found it draaaaaaags on while gameplay/atmosphere/etc weren't all that exciting tbh (at least not compared to how i experienced the original back in the days)
I agree, but i experienced the original just a week or so before the release of the remaster xD I mean the remaster has some fantastic work done to it. Graphics in general and i loved the ghost train section, but the office building massacre being censored, Sephiroth being revealed way too early and the end stuff was just... ugh.
Quote from dev:
“We’ve made it more modern. If we made the place like we did in the original game, the physical uneasiness would be overwhelming, so that was no good….”
Watch some anime from year 2000 +/- and read that quote. It's quite sad how weak and pathetic japanese people have become.
And another thing. Why on earth didn't cloud get to go inside the terrorists headquarters i nthe remake? Makes little sense.
Ok, just read the link above and yeah this suxx indeed. Game looks good, but its definetly missing optimization and more settings. Anyone know if there is a config file somewhere ?
I'm hoping there will be a trainer or full savegame soon. Definitely want to play this on hard-mode, but have no intention to clear it again to unlock that.

Man those fucking Framedips are annoying as fuck, running around the slums where are only a handfull of NPCs let it dip to 40 fps which stutters and then goes back up to whatever your fps are normally. Needs toll be fixed for sure since the game isnt even that demanding.
The game has some weird issue with having 60fps at 60hz where it becomes a horrible stutterfest. However, 120fps @ 120hz is fine and 59fps @ 60hz is fine. It's specifically the 60fps @ 60hz that seems to break it. There's the occasional loading hitch regardless but 60fps @ 60hz is a whole another issue. The loading hitches are captured in RTSS as you'd expect but the 60@60 issue can show a flat 60fps with perfect frametime and it's still visually stuttering constantly. 60fps @ 120hz is perfectly fine again.
I had pretty crazy stuttering as well. Limiting FPS to 60 with RTSS, 60 FPS limit in-game, setting VSync to On in NVIDIA CP (biggest change) and switching to DX11 made it run basically butter smooth with tiny hiccups now and then. Very happy with the game's performance now.

That don't do anything for me and awkwardly even if I put in the -dx11 command in the shortcuts properties. RTSS still shows DX12...

Has anyone come across a completed save game? I got about half way thru on ps4 and I’d rather just start on a midway chapter than repeat all of it mainly due to limited time. Thanks.

I loved FF7 as a kid - 24 years ago, it was not my first RPG at that time. But this one here is what a true Remake defines even with the changes in the story. They fit so far decently into the story arc.
When i heard that this game has a different combat style like FF15 i was turned off by it, but now after playing with it i must admit its a great combination of both worlds.
When i started playing i was not really amazed at first since the first are and intro you play feel a bit empty and not really detailed so i expected a easy cash grab from Square with little effort but man was i wrong, the story is so fletched out with cutscenes here and there, sometimes an fmv and the voice acting and cutscenes are so well done i was in awe and never had the feeling about being too much, its super balanced IMHO in that regard.
ITs my GOTY for sure even tho it has some flaws like the missing options and streaming issues, but the rest is just freaking amazing. Not gonna spoil anything but the end is not what i expected. I really like that the levels or areas are so filled with stuff that drags the game in a good way. In the old FF7 some parts were too short to make sense like traversing areas and here its the same content but packaged great.
Cant wait for the other Sequels, they can take their time and i am sure they gonna deliver.
Also i must admit that there are 1 or 2 parts where i got emotional and this never happend to me in any game before, rarely a good movie can do that.
For everyone who played the old one and loves it like many others do, go ahead and enjoy this masterpiece. Is it worth the 80 bucks ? In this Day and Age it could be worth that cause it was definetly not cheap to be made. Ill wait for a Steam release so i can put it together with all the other Final Fantasys, maybe at that point it will be cheaper and worth a buy for sure.
Glad i didnt spoil my self on YT etc. when the PS4 version came out, was worth the wait.
Havenmt seen such quality in a liong time, other companies should take notes (we know they dont).
tl;dr: Game gets Badass seal of approval from me, 11/10 for sure
