Will patiently wait for the isodemo as per usual (since the leaked one was fundamentally broken), but it's good to hear that gameplay-wise it isn't a stinker. In the modern rotten gaming environment having something that gets close to reminiscing the classics is already a small victory Very Happy Laughing

Seems like a decent Commando clone?

No patch since last year from the looks of it, is it really that bug free or did they just decide to abandon it?

Cool game.

It's a bit rough around the edges, as most indie nowadays, but it's got 'heart'.

And it's better than that ultra-safe-let's-not-dare-innovate-desperados-3 thing...

Does this game have an option to play as a Wehrmacht soldier ? I want to hunt down those partizanen banditen and give them a proper reward !

^ They didn't even went to the latest level of world interaction that Commandos 2 had (the most brilliant game in the series IMO).

That kind of interaction has pros and cons. Commandos 2 was extremely exploitable because of it.

Desperados 3 took level design to the next level.

that goes for almost every game in existence. i mean after i had played ultima 7 i was sure this was the new standard for RPG's, that everyone would demand it, developers would pay attention to it more, reviewers would compare games to it and tell the devs to do better if the RPG didn't have it.. no... Little did i know that for the next 30 years i would not see the likes of it, and that world interactivity is rarely mentioned or taken into account either by players or reviewers, devs...

I finally finished munching my way through all the virtual nazis in the Eastern Breekifront, it was indeed a bit of a rough ride (mostly due to the limited budget), but competent enough to provide several hours of quality tacticool action.

Although the game doesn't offer the depth of the old Commando games and doesn't have the polish of Desperados 3/Shadow Tactics, it allows for a nice degree of freedom and experimentation when planning attacks which feels less of a puzzle-in-disguise approach and more of a sandbox-y one. Different characters provide different playing styles, both the panther mode and Rambo style are feasible (kind of). It's not short either and as long as one doesn't stick to the same strategy, the repetitiveness factor keeps itself in check.

It does have its share of annoyances though: the interface sometimes just abandons you to join the nazi army, both the AI and pathfinding can be hysterical, there are no swastikas in it, and the performance is rather uneven. However, I didn't encounter any particularly serious bugs and reloading a previous save usually does the job. The graphics aren't remarkable, but the stylized art direction works well. As for the story, it's serviceable - with the partisans charmingly chatting and chilling right in front of the fire, planning missions and waiting for the events to unfold. A solid 7,5/10 attempt in my book, imperfect but with a good soul.

I really liked this game.

Unpolished, true. But quite... memorable.
