Just finished it as well.

Took my sweet time, I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the characters.

The voice acting was amazing and the interactions between them was really well done.

This was basically my first touch with Marvel as I'm generally not a fan of superhero stories, but maybe I'll give the two movies a try now.

I think I can safely say that this is my GOTY (at least from what I've played this year), decided to pick it up purely because I liked what I saw during the E3 presentation and it was the right decision in the end.

The 2 GOTG films and Thor Ragnarok are probably the most fun Marvel films so if you do end up enjoying the GOTG films, maybe give Ragnarok a try too.

The game is quite fun, but there are some annoying issues with it. For starters, it's easy to interrupt dialogues and miss out on interactions/banter. The animations can be very raw which is jarring considering how good the game looks. And the performance seems all over the place.

I love the first GotG, didn't finish the second one (i should watch it again though but it didn't seem nearly as good). Totally agree about Ragnarök too, also great. Way more interesting setting than any of the other boring Marvel movies, and funnier too.

I'll get this on a sale Wink

This got the best narrative at the Game Awards over something like Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous (which probably wasn't even nominated). lol wut

Thinking of grabbing this game since its rated positive on steam, however: Is it worth picking up?:

-I've found these superhero movies really dumb (even this guarding series)
-I don't care about characters/character development at all

Haven't played it but this game was written by Mary DeMarle who wrote Human Revolution and Mankind Divided.

I've heard praise for the writing so no point if you won't enjoy it.

Thanks. Yeah I didn't like any superhero movie's writing/story/character development/fancywordtolookeducated stuff.

If you don't care about superheroes why buy? Just wait for the scene release or a better sale like 10 euro's.

If you're bored try FF7 instead for free. Forget it's an jRPG if you are not into that, it's story driven game and more of an action game with some stats, should fit your needs.

This one is not based on the movies but on the comics, though.

Get it, I'm in the same boat as you regarding the superhero movies.

I don't care about them at all, but I enjoyed this game immensely, it's my GOTY.

Also: Does this have that stupid music lineup? 90s 80s songs.

My friend showed me a clip in the movie where the guy listens to "awesome" 80s 90s track.

I have to walk back on my initial lines I wrote about this game.

I was bored during Christmas, so I tried a ocuple of games I wouldn't normally. And this game ... this game is good. Even though it is Marvel - which I absolutely loathe. I loathe the empty, boring, formulatic shit, that is Marvel. But this actually has good writing, I have to admit. Certainly miles better than any Marvel movie ever made.

Gameplay is linear, but I actually prefer it that way. Never liked the open world time sinks, barely finished a bunch in my life of those.

This is not an RPG though. This is a story-heavy action game. I liked the combat, too.

I recommend. (played PS5)

Any easy way to change the region on an existing Epic account? Are there any downsides to that?

Because there are numerous other aspects that are top notch. I almost never say this about games, but in this case the package as a whole works despite the gameplay being on the more simple side of things.

The game would be worth it just for the visuals alone.

Tbh, you are not exactly objective here. This game is very similar with Andromeda in terms of visuals, while it looks good, there are so many technical problems with it. The animations are often a mess and a lot of the visual assets constantly glitch.

The animation is run of the mill. But the art design is fantastic. Each level is different than the last and also from general games. We dont really have games that go so out there with their worlds, this type of ultra large budget game i mean. Every level makes you want to look at it, its not stuff we get all the time

there are many other games like this, top notch everything minus gameplay, but they still somehow managed to make it not boring

The animations look handmade. I don't see them using any motion caption and if it was used, they did a poor job with it. The graphics do look good and the artistic direction is fantastic, but there are plenty of visible cons.

You can tell this is the same studio that made HR and MD. Artistic design is strong in this one.

I don't get the bugs. Granted, I played on PS5, and it was a proper handsome game.

I think even though the story started out as typical Marvel trash shit, it quickly gained some depth. I actaully have to give credit to the writers, because they made the script flow nicely from Marvel shit-humor to actual expression of feelings a human might have quite well.

Why wouldn't it considering that's the era star lord grew up in?
I think the soundtrack is indeed awesome. Its one of the things the game gets great reviews about.
