This game is absolutely spectacular, and the engine is not bad either.
1070 ti @ 1440p - 50fps avg without MSAA; Volumetric Light & Reflections on Med.
The other settings on Max.

The AWE mission is rather short and more-of-the-same-y, but it's not uninspired in how it tries to blend the two universes both mechanically (through the use of lights) and narrative-wise.
It's a shame that the game as a whole rarely manages to support the very peculiar atmosphere and the complete freedom to use anarchic physics like a manic redhead without first offering mundane encounters and an aura of pseudo-pretentiousness in its writing. Still, it was a pleasant title in my book - albeit rather inconclusive, and I'd like to see some sort of follow-up someday.
I'd say it's pretty likely that there will be another Remedian Alan Wake in the future, or perhaps an Alana Control hybrid involving both the characters. Such cliffhanger-ish hints demand a continuation, Perkele!

finished awe dlc too and it was just more of the same, and while this is not bad given control is very good its a bit dissapointing because so much hype was around this. its even shorter than the foundation and that one i liked more, map was bigger and the new mechanics were nice, awe could have done more with the light mechanic. this dlc is mostly a set up for a next game.
this game reminded me of the movie split where at the end they reveal its part of a bigger connected story, but until it was released nobody knew

Just finished the AWE DLC and it was very enjoyable albeit short. I specially enjoyed the ending and what went after.
Spoiler: | So, I guess Alan Wake 2 is pretty much confirmed, in the end when Langston is talking he mentions a couple of hints.
"A signal coming from couple of years in the future" - AW2 is still a couple of years away
"And we're in lockdown, there shouldn't be any incoming signals" - The studios are working from home due to COVID, real life lockdown, not in the game.
"Maybe it was active before we went into lockdown" - They were already working on the sequel before the lockdown.
"Agent Estevez" - an agent located in Bright Falls
"A return, you have been warned" - get hyped AW2 boiiii
I only wonder since Control was written as Alan Wake's way to escape, was Quantum Break a failed escape? |

I'm just getting around to playing this, what do you mean the engine isn't bad lmao. This engine is fucking dog shit after it's been stepped in by a drunk horse.
I'm running the fucking thing on medium with a 1080ti @1440p and it's struggling to maintain 60, and it doesn't even look that good.
has 0 optimization on this.
Textures aren't anything to write home about. Physics are cool but are they pushing the phyics through gpu too? I've got a cpu sitting at 20% usage bored out of it's mind that could be handling that.
The fuck is this game doing when I'm walking around that I'm bouncing from 38-60FPS?

Apparently at least for me if you had installed ISODemo control from Epic version, Epic Store states that you have the game in library and you/I can't claim it.

I never even downloaded the isodemo but when I first tried to claim it it said I already own the game. Even thought they already gave the game for free before. Guess it was some bug because it was possible to claim it later.

Came finally to trying it out and finishing it with Razor release and i must say, this game is fucking awesome. The Leveldesign, visuals and playstyle are just what more games should be.
Cant wait for the next iteration of it, definetly worth some money. Havent played such a decent SP game in years.
One thing i coudnt finish was the Anchor fight cause it crashes immedietly when he barfs his first attack, tried googling a solution but nothing worked *sadface*
Guess i gonna do a second round and get all the lore into me since i skipped most of it (especially early on) because i was under the impression its just some eyecandy game with meh gmeplay/story etc. like Quantum Break or Metro Exodus (tho Metro doesnt even look good at all IMHO)

Quote: | Remedy’s most recent game Control launched in 2019 to high acclaim from players and reviewers alike, and since then all fans have been eagerly awaiting news of a sequel. Remedy has now revealed that Control 2 is indeed in production but it’s extremely early, and it seems likely the multiplayer spin-off will release first. |

Rockstar own the rights for Max Payne, so there is no way for Remedy to make the next one.
I enjoyed Control for what it was, the gameplay and the story were pretty good and the many connections with Spoiler: | Alan Wake, including the ending were awesome. |
I guess if they are currently fully working on Alan Wake 2 + some kind of unannounced multiplayer project, I highly doubt that we will see Control 2 until at least 2025.

I know about the Max Payne IP, but... Rockstar... /sigh
... I appreciate too much RDR2 to shit on them for keeping the MP IP hostage.

I love Control and the AWE/Foundation DLC. The setting, the mind bending reality altering story, the comedic elements, the exploration (esp. when looking for secrets and solving hidden puzzles), the fighting (once you've got the most important abilities somewhat levelled up and have unlocked the weapon modes). It's definitely a game in my taste.
