The only thing that really annoyed me in Ep.3 was those silly Power Ranger scooters. What the hell were they thinking... Otherwise the story is moving on with the past and the present joining up. As far as Boba is concerned I guess some people believed he'd just kick ass and chew bubble gum every episode instead of expanding the lore and the character building we're seeing. I do hope we get to see more of Black Krssantan in the show, that's one badass wookiee.

Dont forget how badass he was in mandalorian to show how he deserved the suit. Where did he go?

He completed his goal getting his armor back and took his place as crime lord on Tatooine. He decided not to be another Jabba. I believe they wanted to use The Book of Boba Fett to explore (and bring back into the canon) the lore from The Bad Batch and the Legends universe to explore more nuanced and complex versions of the characters. Fennec is still the same badass who wouldn't hesitate to wipe out any threat and we saw a little of Boba doing the same when literally blowing that Night Wind assassin to smithereens. And...
Spoiler:
He did get that rancor that he seems to be extremely happy about being his new pet, wanting to ride it... THAT would be truly bad-ass seeing him ride a rancor. Yeah, I do understand people wanting the brutally badass Boba Fett in Mando season 2 be like that in The Book of Boba Fett.. I feel the same thing.. but at the same time I like the deeper nuance of his character as well as the backstory where he IS a badass.
I do believe that he WILL be the badass we know now that he's preparing for the war against the syndicate instead of trying to rebuild his crime lord empire in a more just and respectful manner compared to his predecessors. I just wish those cyberpunk kids weren't so edgy while riding those ridiculous power range scooters that simply don't fit anywhere in the Star Wars universe.
The show is definitely building up to something spectactular that will be even more impactful due to Boba taking his gloves off. Perhaps that was the plan all along.
We'll see. I enjoy this show immensely although The Mandalorian is the best Star Wars live action since the latter half of Star Wars: Episode III (the only really good part of the prequel trilogy imho).
I think it's as generic as it can get, it's only watchable because the SW universe has some cool lore (though it's getting worse and worse) and the old movies serves as a nice backdrop.
They took one of the most well known SW villains, turned him into yet another chosen one (episode 2), yet another "no one is ever really gone", and yet another do-gooder instead of letting him be a villain.
Jesus christ on a stick this show is so bad. Boba fett ain't some crime lord. he's a glorified sheriff in town with the series trying to tell you he's something else. It's so bad.
I agree that it's not quite what we all expected/hoped for and that Boba Fett is toned down from his more badass appearance in The Mandalorian. As for the his original appearance in the original trilogy he was just a cool looking bounty hunter with ~2 minutes of screen time in total(?) that was defeated by a blind Han Solo accidentaly switching on Bobas rocket pack.
The best parts in this show are by far the flashback scenes. But I don't really get the aggressive criticism against the show. I really like the character development and the expansion of the canon lore to include characters from Legends as well as expanding the story of the Tuskens, Pykes etc.
Black Krssantan was awesome (although he could easily have ripped the arms off the cyberpunk kids and was held back by the writers). The car chase scene was too slow and again, those shiny power range scooters were just so wrong, esp. for a place like Mos Esba.
But yeah, I still thoroughly enjoy this show and I don't feel the same negativity that some viewers seem to do. I guess I'm just taking things in stride as I watch it. A rancor brought in by Danny Trejo? Hell yeah.
seems a bit similar to Witcher S2 where Cavill had to step in and tell the director to not use a really cheap joke (in a certain scenario when someone dies).
Chapter 4 is the best episode so far... by miles. It ties everything together and all the build-up is charging up in this show for the last three episodes.
Episode 3 would have been good if they had atleast given the brats dirty/broken bikes instead of those "just out of the factory in perfect conditions and different colors" design.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

Yeah. Those shiny colorful mod scooters don't belong in the Star Wars universe, especially a place like Tatooine.
It was taken straight from the British 60'ies mod culture:
There are some really ridiculous pictures of the scooters/vespas that the 60'ies mods had.
Anyway, I loved Chapter 4. Those scooters and that boring chase scene (the only thing in that entire sequence that was good was the 2-3 seconds when Boba landed after the crash) really soiled that episode. I believe the fact that the episodes are released once a week makes many viewers impatient and more sensitive to the few glaring flaws that may show up, making a ruckus about it online.
I tend to go with the flow and keep my blinders on when watching something I'm invested in. Afterwards, specifically after a rewatch of an episode, I'm much more conscious about the annoyances I ignored the first time. So far I'd say that episode 2 and especially episode 4 are the best and episode 1 and 3 somewhat weaker.
As I've written earlier in this thread, these first four episodes have been all about Boba evolving as a character from the moment he climbed out of that sarlacc pit and showing us what happened from that moment until "present time" in the Mando/Boba show timelines.
It seems that bascially all the people complaining completely forgot everything else in the episode. I'm completely flabbergasted by the viewers that hate the flashbacks... wtf? They're awesome and adds so much to the lore about the Tuskens (this tribe in particular) and Boba while giving us some backstory on the Pykes which prepares us for what's coming.
Spoiler:
I mean... Krssantan and those trandoshans? ..and joining up with Boba? And the scene with the other crime lords/leaders where Boba looked totally peaceful and calm while he intimidated them as well as scared the living shit out of them with his Rancor only to go "easy boy.. easy". Now THAT's intimidation.
With Black K standing in the back as well, Boba doesn't really have to do anything else to introduce himself and his "credentials" to the other gang leaders. We got the badass Boba everyone wanted when he wiped out the Nikto speedbiker gang with Slave One with that expression he had. I LOVED the awesome camera shots when he angled and lowered Slave One right on top of the pit. Another awesome scene. I can't complain about anything in episode 4 except perhaps the mod parlor scene where Fennec gets her guts "cybernized" where the music was so out of place for a star wars show. Other than that it was awesome imho.
Oh, at the very end when Boba and Fennec stand on the balcony discussing how to get more muscle... when the Din theme kicks in... goosebumps. We knew ever since the information about Book of Boba showed up in entertainment media that there would be some sort of crossover between The Mandalorian and Book of Boba without any specific details.
Anyway, I can see why some people may be a bit disappointed in this show since it's probably not what they expected after building up their expectations and hype beyond comprehension ever since the reveal in the season finale of Mando S2. It's got a different tempo and the only view of Boba we/they got was as a badass no-quarter bounty hunter. The little we see of him in the original trilogy doesn't really show anything except a few short snippets of a guy in a cool looking armor that turned over Han Solo to Jabba and then falling into the Sarlacc Pit in a slaptstick manner. That Boba had no personality or depth whatsoever. He was just a side character with very little screentime.
We all just thought he looked incredibly cool and was portrayed as somewhat of a badass without a single line. The was basically nothing behind the cool looking armor until the prequels where we saw him as a kid, then nothing until now when we get a much deeper perspective and some serious character development combined with filling in the blanks about what happened from the moment he climbed out of the Sarlacc pit to the point where the flashbacks caught up with the present. And we got to see some really cool stuff.
Code:

int main() {
std::cout << "Rant over!";
return 0;

I can only chime in: this episode of The Book of the Mandalorian Season 3 Episode -1 is hands down the best episode so far. And that's a problem for a show made for Boba Fett, esp. since there's not a single second of Boba Fett in the episode.
Just ~1-2 days ago I read several articles about how Temuera was rather angry with Jon Favreau not understanding Boba as a character at all which I can only agree with. He even tried to cut his own dialogue when Favreau wasn't looking.
In a recent interview with NME, Boba Fett actor Morrison revealed that he also agreed that the character was speaking too much. According to Morrison, he even tried to remove some of his own lines from the script while Favreau was away from set. Morrison stated that he attempted to remove entire paragraphs from the script, telling a crew member, "and Jon's gone to Atlanta, so don't tell him!"
The only way to rewind the changes Jon did to Boba is to make a second season where he's not continually talking while taking no bullshit from anybody. While I do like TBoBF it's nowhere near the quality or fulfilling the expecations we had. The best parts were the Tusken flashbacks. Seeing as the criticism has been very mixed I doubt there will be a second season of Boba.
Quote:
The Book of Boba Fett has still yet to be officially renewed for a second season (which may be due, in part, to the fans' criticism of the series), leaving it yet unclear whether or not Favreau will hear what fans are saying and alter his interpretation of the character.
Nice episode of the Book of Mandolorian.
@Stefan, maybe they should just ditch Robert Rodriguez. First episode was quite weak, which he directed. Third episode was a disaster. He also did The Tragedy episode on Mando, which wasn't great either. Maybe he should've taken the hint based on this title.
they should but i bet they cant, this show is like rodriguezs baby, even from way back in s2 of the mandolol even though many were happy that they introduced this character, nobody talked how bad that episode was directed.
same goes for favreau, these peeople live in a bubble. same was with the mandolol to not remove the helmet but when it happened it was like one of the best moments of the show, pedro pascal pushed for that.
Oh, as far as fan service goes... THIS is how you do it right. I didn't think "oh, this is just fan service for the sake of it". Instead I felt like it was fan service for the real SW fans done perfectly.
I do hope the next two episodes will be epic. I wonder if they made this Mando episode at the same time they did the rest of S3. Most likely. It's like it's a completely different team in the background that did all the practical/CGI fx and so on since Mandalorian just looks SO much better visually in every way compared to the previous TBoBF episodes. The long one-shot scene when he's going to deliver his bounty is great. The quality difference between the two shows is very obvious.
This episode was like an orgasm for all true Star Wars fans. The last one was amazing, this one took it to a whole different level. It's a good thing they hired that new CGI/VFX since it looks soo much better than the previous one.
This may be among the best 45 minutes of live action Star Wars ever made.
As for Boba not being in Episode 5 and doing very little in Episode 6 I'm starting to see what LucasArts is doing. They're bringing in all these characters, giving us backstories or character portraits and creating a wider Star Wars universe. They should just call this show "The Star Wars Show Season 1". We actually got the most important/interesting parts of Boba Fetts story from leaving the Sarlacc pit to taking over Jabbas palace. So yeah, I do think that they're using the last three episodes to tease us about things to come as well as create a big unified Star Wars universe not unlike what Marvel did with MCU.
We know there are shows being worked on that will keep Star Wars content on our screens for a decade or more which in turn opens up new possibilities for new movies which use/connect to characters and events from these shows whether it's Din Djaren, Boba, Ahsoka and the other characters I won't mention (check out the episode instead).

I'm guessing they're focusing on their stronk whamen and LGQTBBW. I mean who else if boba isn't even present.
