The visuals wouldn't be so bad if everything else was up to scratch. Combat, animations and physics for example. But the whole thing seems like it's stuck in the late 2000s.

Still hyped regardless, but stepping into this decade's graphics would have been nice

I was hoping they'd add more polish as the first one's jank really drove me off. Guess this one's a skip.

Oh fuck. Just saw it released in 1 week LOL. That's such a terrible date considering Elden Ring comes in 1 day... Not that I care, not gonna play any of both games right now but the sales are gonna crash even more. Sad

Well I wasn't expecting anything better than 6-7/10. It's PB after all, they doesn't learn - junk is the golden standard Laughing

i doubt they've made any game that has gotten more than 7'ish overall. it's totally expected.

combat is worse according to a few now... haha so just like with Risen they made it worse, and 3 will be the worst of the 3 Laughing

Even german journos which are usually ""not at all biased"" when it comes to german maed gaems say that there was not much progression since part 1 and that the game plays/looks ancient

Please don't go full Gothic 3, PB.

edit: or Risen 2, or Risen 3.

Have they really made only one good sequel? Damn

PB used to be quite up to date with graphics, they really haven't kept up at all. Switch out that Genome engine for The Decima engine Mr. Green just imagine seeing a Gothic or Elex game looking as good as forbidden west..

It looked ancient in the previews. And clunky. And WTF is with those NPC faces.

And it apparently has severe optimisation issues.

Can't wait.

There is a huge Day 1 patch which will hopefully fix at least some of the issues.

Always a good thing to say when reviews aren't good or overall critical, gives people hope etc and they don't cancel their pre-orders or similar. Who knows how "big" or how much of an impact it will have. They've never, ever been good at patching their games.

According to computerbase.de none of the performance issues were fixed with this patch.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Looks good. The jetpack melee combat looks pretty awful but eh. Looks like could use more blood/sfx when you're smacking something in melee too. But im pleased, going to have fun with this after elden ring.

why did they even bother with the jetpack combat, it was obvious from the start that it was going to be shit.

Click4Gameplay sounds like he's shilling for them a bit, he's very forgiving i think, but i don't know. It'll be interesting to hear what WaB says, i think he said his review would be up today Mr. Green

So I've been playing this for 2 hours and so far it's not bad. Getting between 30-60 fps on a laptop with 3060+11800h at 2k. Could be better with those graphics. It's using around 4gb VRAM, as computerbase.de showed.

Maybe (but it probably won't happen Very Happy ) that they can improve it a bit. They did set up a bugtracker this time around and THQNordic does seem to pay for bugfixing after release (Spellforce 3 had over 30 patches Very Happy, Darksiders 3 less, but also fairly frequent) so I'm hoping this time PB will not go straight to making another game.

The controls imediately jump at me. Why did they make these chages ? Paning the camera with the mouse feels ... loose ? Like its on a spring, like it has momentum. The fuck is wrong with them ? Elex 1 has raw input. Just copy your previous game ?

Then they now have some sort of dynamic camera. When you're standing still, its pretty zoomed in. When you start moving it suddenly zooms out. When you sprint it zooms more. The moment you stop it snaps abruptly to your character. In Elex 1 the mouse wheel was controling how close or far the camera is. How did they fuck up all this in the sequel when it was all great previous ?

No idea why there's no raw input this time, even at 0.1 speed it just feels wrong.

I don't have motion sickness after years of working at sea, but I can see how some people may be affected. And there's no FOV slider again.

Hopefully they can improve this when people send them bug reports.
