It was a nice season but I feel it could have been much better.

They need a bigger budget though... Very Happy

PS Judging by the Reddit comments it looks like the books are considerably better than the show.

The numbers don't decide, the system is a lie. The river running dry, the wings of butterflies.

I've been watching this since last month, halfway through S5. Quality show, much better than Vikings 90210, even though it obviously didn't have have the same budget and production values, but I must say writing quality takes a bit of a dip towards the end of S4 and then S5, maybe it got hit hard by Covid back then? I can't believe they fucked Sigtryggr (probably the most interesting Dane character in the show when introduced in S4) beyond recognition in S5 with his nonsensical decisions.

Anyways, hopefully it doesn't get much worse for the last few remaining episodes.

Finished it, writing recovered a bit in the last few episodes and the finale was very well done, IMO.

Is the 2023 sequel movie on Netflix any good? Should I watch it? Or should it be ignored?

So, watched it and wasn't disappointed Smile Also, learned a new bit of (probably innacurate) history, I didn't know about the Battle of Brunanburh.

Movie was cool, a nice way to end the entire series! Took me a little bit to remember the characters again but everyone from the show is in it, which was nice (looking at you, Peaky Blinders).

The Battle of Brunanburh and this whole period of warring kingdoms feels to me like where the Arthurian legends started. There's a scene in Excalibur on the battlefield after a victory against 'enemies from all wind directions', where they stand in a circle and form the Round Table.
Arthur and Aethelstan sound similar (with a little bit of effort).

And with all the awesome castles in England, Wales and Scotland I have visited, somehow I missed Brunanburh castle. Looks amazing still!
