Idris Elba has become so lazy, that while everyone is singing “vroom vroom vroom”, he is mumbling “jum jum jum”. He’s always been the mumbling type, but has gotten worse over the years.
Never having owned a console, I have only ever played GT2 on a PS emu and GT4 on a PS2 emu and what I always really loved about those games was the unlocking part, winning races getting money, buying new cars, getting better at circuits with faster cars etc. etc. that way some cars really grew on me.
And it was always that feeling that made wish I could have those games on PC.
Now I just watched this review and the guy rambles on about not being able to use everything from the get go. I think that has always been the point of GT games for me.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
I mean you still get a new car after basically every single race if you do the cafe missions. Most of them are more or less the same class though, at least for the first few hours (that's as far as I've played). But of course it's no Forza Horizon, where you get a new supercar for every 5 meters you manage to drive without crashing.
I like GT7 very much, the driving feels great even with a controller and I love the DualSense haptics. It's amazing how far ahead the force feedback is compared to the Xbox controller. I just don't know why Japanese games seemingly never progress in terms of UI. It's just tedious having to work through 8 screens to go from one race to the next...
Enormous +24h server maintenance, and patch 1.07 nerfing by a shit TON the payout/money rewards in races (Before you could win 30k (45k with perfection) in that over SUPER SPEED WAY or whatsoever in 5 minutes. Now 15k
However a "long AF race" would give ya 5k and now it goes up to 65k , but that's more of a microtransactions bullshit intended when it comes to the rest of the 85% of events
Patch 1.08 has no patch notes
"THE REAL GRINDING / P2W SIMULATOR" (Asking ya for 2 years nonstop of playing to get the whole car collection if ya go for it). Online required to play offline modes just so you don't cheat (How, on PS5, if ya cannot backup ya save on a USB anymore (BUT YOU CAN FOR PS4 GAMES ON PS5???)???
Game went down to shit and metactiric scores are heading down to the biggest hell ever of the franchise.

I'm very sad about it all, thought Polyphony had a little more integrity after being there right from the start of the Playstation project. Scumbags indeed.
Is it me or does it look like the cars are just floating and skating around? Haven't seen it in action myself but the footage i've seen isn't very flattering. Just looks off to me.
Saw a utuber video on the update, with the MT prices, race rewards and car prices. And holy shit, sad to see sony/polyphony falling this far.
Was hoping to see this one on PC but now I just dunno.

Finished the "campaign" (cafe missions) and it was kinda disappointing. Every race is the same, always rolling start from the back, never qualifying or practice or pit stops or anything. It's never immersive enough to make me care about a race so it's just "let's just get through this" mode all the time.
As rewards you get to collect cars you likely don't even want. It's not ideal.
Fortunately with the new patch, a lot of extra activities like missions and curcuit experience (get bronze/silver/gold in each sector, then the full course), award a lot of money for the first time you complete them. Or 1 hour endurance races with excellent rewards.
So there's a lot you can choose to do for money now which is good, though I'm worried about long term because all these things only give you rewards once and I assume a lot of very expensive cars are yet to come.
But I'm enjoying multiplayer now quite a bit. Doing these daily races is great fun.
You can practice a bit, set a qualifying time, and then feel you accomplished something for just surviving a race without crashing, or getting from 7th to 5th position.
Too bad rewards are terrible for online races for some reason.
I get custom races with friends not having great rewards but why matchmaking sports races? makes no sense, they should pay out at least as much as the equivalent of single player races imo but they give like 10%

Just to put things about multiplayer into perspective, while daily races are totally playable and the matchmaking works, the rest of the MP experience does not.
Split screen is there, but they have yet to add P2 settings, so you effectively cannot even change the assist options for the 2nd player.
Custom Race lobbies are just fucked - you join one, maybe catch it before the race starts, and you get to race once. Then you quickly realize there is no way to change the track without disbanding the lobby and creating a new one, booting everyone from your room in the process of course (or any other room settings for that matter lol)
Then as a room host, you have a good 5-6 players inside your room, and you're sick of waiting so you want to start the race, but wait - now the game is throwing an error that some player is currently loading and you cannot start yet. Not only can you not see their loading status and you end up just spamming the start button, but the players will of course grow bored and start cycling in and out of your room so it makes it very likely that you almost always have a player loading.
so GT7 is slowly improving, VR is a gamechanger, Sophy actually works and will hopefully get implemented permanently soon...
but still the lowest hanging fruit are left hanging for whatever reason
useless licenses, still too few races and no variety in styles (no grid starts, no qualifying, no weather in multiplayer, etc etc), many track layouts without any races whatsoever, barely any races for high powered cars, roulette tickets are still fucking terrible and the cafe is still railroading you through the game not allowing you building any connection with a car you like if you want to progress
so much of it is just some UI shit they could fix in a week if they wanted, I don't get it.
this is either one of the best bad games or worst good games I've ever played... it's weird as heck
anyone else here playing this?
