I just finished pirated alyx yesterday on a borrowed quest 2 from a friend who's letting just sit and gather dust. To launch Alyx with SteamVR you need these two commands on a shortcut of the exe "-Steam -VR". it worked perfectly for me and a lot of games run easily as well (lone echo, TWD, Boneworks).

Man this VR shit fucks with you.

VR porn is freaky but most of it is paid stuff and paying for porn is a big no no. Matter of fact a lot of stuff built for VR, even game mods are locked behind paywalls for some reason, everyone's out to milk this slowly growing market. I definitely wouldn't engage in VR porn too much anyway as I doubt it's good for your brain in the long term.

@FireMaster
How is it any less/more bad for you than normal porn, adding in 3d to the video is worse?

Now if it was some future tech like it was star trek holodeck level of sensory input and fully interactive I can see it being an issue.
But pre-filmed static scene video like any other porn with depth of vision added (all they really are) is not different than old fashioned porn really.

I'm not saying it's less/more bad than regular porn I think most porn is bad for your brain. Especially for those with addiction issues and teens still in development stages. VR fooling the brain better is something to be wary of. it can serve as a.. dare I say this... a gateway "drug"

in short all I'm saying is... I've seen stuff... Horrible horrible stuff out there People are out there paying creators for 3D horse porn n shit how is that in anyway healthy? and how is anyone into that shit gonna be able to maintain a healthy relationship?

I'll stick to the social (VRchat) and gaming aspects of it myself as I prefer them murder simulators better Cool Face .

If you are paying someone for horse porn, the 3D aspect of it is not the problem. Laughing

Nothing works on the Quest 2 for me today. Tried Virtual Desktop etc, and for each app i tried it said i'm not allowed to use it, that i must buy it from the Oculus Store (which i have).

Restarted the unit, now even less apps shows up (only 2 - Setup and Files, no browser or anything). If i check Storage i cant' see any of the apps that i've purchased either, seems like i'm totally locked out from the unit and i can't use it any more.

Internet connection seems fine because i can visit the store, but if i click something it tells me "something went wrong".

Anyone else having issues today?

Never tried piracy on it from what i can remember, if i had i would have been more worried Wink

lol.. tried posting on reddit Occulus 2... my post is directly deleted "for several reasons"

yeah ever since I tried airlink I'd rather deal with the minor compression than all the annoyances and risks that come with a cable.

Virtual Desktop works great for me, love the frame doubler thing, makes everything run smooth including NMS...

I sold my PSVR recently, i just shook my head at all the cables, converter, boxes, camera which is required to run it.. it filled half my floor! it's easily 1h+ just to set it up, probably more for a newbie who has to read up of where all the cables go, calibrate IPD, calibrate camera, find a place where even the camera can be because it's a large piece.
It felt decades old in comparison to my Quest 2.

When the wee one got sick, we were supposed to go to aquarium.
So I booted up the dusty cv1 and gave her ocean rift for 5 minutes and she was happy.
But replacement cables for cv1 are as much as I paid for it (thru Kickstarter) lol.

Quest piracy seems easy enough. Sideload apks, get a free dev account and you're set.
Is quest 2 worth it? I'll play pavolv linked, but like, really is it worth it? Will I get at least 80 hours of fun out of it? I did with cv1.

Wouldn't that fully depend on which Quest2 exclusives you are interested in? You can use the CV1 for PCVR as well, not? Then PC games as Alyx or such wouldn't count?

I think its the best VR you can get.

Wireless, there are better picture quality VR headsets with wider fov but still.
Easy to setup, no need for any external device. I didn't regret buying it.
Not many games are there however (which are AAA quality):
Boneworks
Alyx
Trover
Walking dead
Lone echo
Asgard Wrath
Tales from the galaxies
RE4

Anyone else get a hangover from VR? If so do you get used to it? Like the next day i was sick, probably sicker than a real hangover. Bleh.

All it took was 45 minutes to an hour of Alyx. Dont think i'd be able to get through it. Teleport movement seems to make it worse if anything, just disorients me and the flashing doesn't help, hah.

First game where i noticed it was Boneworks, for me walkin straight and not teleporting fucks with my brain too much and made me stop VR in general.

They say you need to build up your "vr legs" and that may true to some extend but i can´t endure that somehow

No. Not from VR but from the material itself that you breath in, probably some nice cancerogenous shit. Quest 2 did have an update for it where they send you some silicone that you attach around it, made it better. I got itching from the original material too, never had that happening before.

It's all about getting used to it i think. When 3D games were new everyone was talking about it being far too nauseating, nowadays it's rare that you see someone mentioning they can't play 3D games, its because everyone got used to it.

Much, much happier with Quest 2 than anything else i've gotten in terms of VR, incredibly good price for what it is. I'll be first in line for a Quest 3 with better FOV and hardware upgrades..
