What I mean is:
This thread is supposed to be about Spore, not Fisk.

Edit: The idea of Spore is great really, but it feels like it will be to much work to make it really good, not just on the paper.

Hmm good point, but you don't seem to realise this diversion from the real topic is actually to your benefit. Now you will not have to dissect all of the hype and when the game is finally released you won't feel utterly disappointed.

Thank you Ispep,
I think you're actually dissolving this situation with humour and a good perspective.

Have you seen the pics? To me it actually looks too simplistic.

If all you do is control a flying saucer and thats the peak of the game, it would be rather pathetic. I thought it was supposed to be a massive space empire management game in the final section. But it looks like you just control one ship from this pic.

My hopes arn't actually that high. I'm looking forward to it, because I always enjoy trying something different. But unless it's terrible, I should be pleasantly suprised. Smile

Actually the preview Will Wright showed at E3 looked rather promising.

But I doubt it will be as the hype tries to portray it.

Fisk.

As for this debate about the use of loadwords, well my original post:

AnimalMother wrote:
Go on Fisk, communicate like the architect from the matrix. I promise it'll make you look intelligent. Razz

Was just a joke, but you chose to take it seriously, like you do with virtually everything. You then proceeded to take it upon yourself to assume that I know nothing of the use of Latin in modern english and that I needed you to explain it to me. I do not.

I have never heard the words 'ergo', and 'quid pro quo' used in casual conversation outside of the matrix, and silence of the lambs . Thats why I made of joke of it, but I understand their usage.

Many people don't even know what they mean, and it would seem to them that you are using the words just for the sake of it, in an effort to appear intelligent. Thats just the impression that they would get. You must realise this?

I don't know what highly cultured individuals you converse with, but i'm talking about the general population.

I could imagine you in a clothes shop;

Fisk "Greetings, pleb, I find this garment appealing, ergo, I wish to purchase it".

Employee(female)"How dare you insult me!"

*slaps Fisk*

*Fisk slaps her back*

Employee "What!? You can't hit a girl!"

Fisk "Quid pro quo, shopkeep, quid pro quo"

Now that was a joke, even if it's not funny. Ok?

Actually, I did not "assume" anything.

Seeing how sarcasm is your forté (look, another loanword), you do come around as pretty much a dubious character. I choose to take you seriously, because I simply wasn't in the mood for your sense of humour (I think you can learn a lot from Ispep here). Also, conveying a joke through text is extremely difficult, especially when you do not use smilies. I would've taken your message quite differently, had you used e.g. " ;) ".

Why you choose to exemplify by exaggarating, I can only guess. However, I chose one single loanword in a perfectly comprehensible sentence.

You chose to think of it as "pseudo-intellectual" and "moron"-ic, just the same way I chose to take you seriously.

Don't take for granted that your vision of what's funny is correctly interpreted the way you want it through the internet.

1. Because I love her.
2. Because I really like good food Wink
3. Because I really don't like water.

fisk, which is the swedish word for fish, (that just oozes intelligence, doesnt it?) you really need to get a perspective on things.

Lets get this straight, from now on i know that you will;
1. Assume i am 14
2. Assume i dont know Latin
3. Assume that i desperatly want your teaching
4. Assume that since i dont spell 100% correct i am somehow mentally inferior to you, while i may just be saving time, being native in another tongue (language for you morons out there..), doing 4 other things at the same time, or simply being ignorant because i know that 99% of the people on these forums dont mind as long as they clearly understands what im writing..

Ok now thats clear, get a fucking grip. You claim that you DONT want to appear intelligent in any way by, oh wait, holy cow/crap. I said "..in any way", perhaps fisk will use this to his advantage somehow!!!!
You claim that you DONT want to appear intelligent by using latin words and/or abbreviations which you must explain to the forum members even tough you have not been asked.
YET, you DO claim that every single person who opposes your attitude is INFERIOR, or just feels inferior in front of your mightyness fisk.

Now, if you claim that people are inferior to you, is not that the same as claiming you are superior to the very same people?

Get a fucking life, let me swear how much i want, it has nothing to do with my intelligence, nothing to do with my experiences or with my knowledge of the universe. They are, GUESS WHAT, WORDS, as yourself claimed about your beloved Latin words.

Some people can bring joy to other people by TEXT, something you dont seem to understand.
His joke was fucking hilarious, about the clothes shop, and if you fisk, really honestly cant understand the humour of Text, if you cant put the context together to form the most likely humorous meaning, i truly feel sorry for you, and for your girlfriend, problems in bed?

No, I do not claim that every single person who opposes "my attitude" is inferior, it's just you who is inferior, no one else - just you.

The average nforce-poster is you and Baleur, and if you look at your replies vs. mine, you will find expletives, curse-words, personal accusations, name-calling etc. in yours. Whereas I've been basically saying: "I really dislike hype, and everyone that does, I think is a stupid consumer" aside from the (obviously very dangerous) word 'ergo'.

And after writing my opinion on these forums, I get replies such as yours where you want to "Meet me in RL".

I am sorry, but pointless name-calling, internet-threatening, etc. is a really childish and immature behavior, and you blaming me for acting/writing like you do just shows that you are just that.

And yes, my conviction really, honestly, is that I cannot ever "be superior" without the persons talking to me feeling inferior. Maybe it's an age-thing, this inferiority-complex, I don't know, maybe Jenni can answer that question for us? She's got a master's degree in Sociology.

Now, can we pretty fucking please get on with the Spore-discussion?

As I see the game, there is no "peak" of the game. The game will be almost as interesting in the beginning as in the end, it'll just be very different
It's kinda the same with games like Civilization, at the beginning you often play more peacefully and as a builder, where you later in the game starts to be more warlike, but it's not like the end is any more interesting that the first few turns...

On other boards I have heard people complain because they thought this game was supposed to be SimCity 5, while from your post it sounds like you want it to be some space game, but this game is niether of those, but contains a few elements from both

But I do understand why this is not a game for everyone. IMHO this game is a bit too wide while not deep enough, I would prefer to have a deep game instead of a wide game...

The thing is everyone is looking forward to a game that will change the whole scene. But FPS-games will rule the market till something truly revolting is released. I love FPS-games and always will, only because they test your skill, not because they introduce new technology.

In multiplayer its like this:
Most RPGs challenge you to get the best equipment, most RTSs challenge you to build up the best army with the best strategy, most sports-games challenge you to learn the flaws of the defense and ultimately score the goal.

There is no other game-genre that test your reflex and tactical skills that FPS do. And that's final. Say what you will. It's FINAL. Razz

reflex/twitching is one of the most common skill used in FPS, like you said in your other post it requires reflex and etc. But is it the only genre that use these skills? We are already seeing some variety in the RPG section with games like GuildWars which mainly focus on PvP, and allows players to start at max level with choices of different max lvl armour/weapons. The game also requires twitching and tactical skills, the tactics you use in GvG (watching the top guilds compete through observer mode Very Happy) sometimes even surpass what I've seen in some very good AA matches. High reflexes are also needed to save your teammate from a spike or doing a spike with your teammate, or even just interupting the 2 second cast spells of the enemy.

RTS also requires reflex and tactics. probably even more than FPS but RTS nowadays aren't displaying the skills as much. I remember watching Boxer for the first time in the Starcraft tornament few years back, he locked down around 10 battle cruisers with 12 ghost in less than 5 seconds because of his fast reflex. RTS also rely greatly on tactics, macroing can sometimes be the difference between a victory and a loss. The amount of tactics needed to play a sucessful 2vs2 (or more) in a RTS is most definitly on par with the tactics used in FPS.

I am really looking forward to this game also, maybe I'm just getting caught up in the "hype", but I think maybe that it is better to have longed after a game and be dissapointed, then never hear about a game. At least now I'm getting "feelings" for something, not just dwliing in numbness...

(Much like the saying "better to have loved and lost, then never loved at all" or something like that).
