Faran Brygo is actually a character that was first introduced in the original Wasteland.

Ok, I didn't know that, never played the original Smile But it's still a stupid name.

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.

Trudograd, Encased, Gamedec, and the new Pathfinder all releasing so close to each other. They'll likely need some more time for the usual patching routines but it's nice to have a wave of cRPGs to look forward to Razz

Bought. Even though i didn't particularly like the first game (for its terrible writing), the mechanics themselves were quite good for the most part. Can be worth 10 euro to check out at least...

seems like the writer is still the same, the guy doing the game + one more, so i have no high hopes for the writing, hopefully they've matured at least a little since the first game was released, because it was like it was written by some 15 year old dude(s) - very cringy.

The writing wasn't great, that's for sure. But I think a lot of the problems came from adapting stuff that was written for the Russian market.

I'm looking forward to play with power armors. Very Happy

A few hours in on the original and liking it. Aside from the stupid pop culture references and a couple of somewhat barren locations where the world map encounters occur Sad

Thanks for mentioning Gamedec ixi, that one somehow flew under my radar

Never heard nor played the first one/beta/xyz, but for a fan of Fallout 1/2, who despised F3, loved NV and shat on whatever came inbetween/next, what are the hopes of it being anywhere close an enjoyable experience?

I think that you, Nodrim, might get me some kind of answer. Thanks Smile

It's a rough game and if you value intricate storytelling and complex writing, you won't find much of that here. But the gameplay is pretty well done.

I like a well-built universe. I like the gloomy, desperate "real post-apo feel" of F1, just as I loved the often querky, ridiculous tropes of F2.

And while I'm not a RP freak, a solid narrative still makes or breaks a RPG. So flimsy, easy-does-it excuses for a plot are a show-stopper for me. I still want to be immersed in the world I'm treading in.

So, sorry, but from what I saw, read from other users (whose tastes seem to be aligned with mine in some fashion), and your description, that's not even a "might", it's a hard pass.

Thanks for your answer!

I'm not too sure about that. He's super fluent in English too, this is his reply to me when i asked if the writing is still done by a 15 y.o:

"Still, it's all a ruse, I didn't evolve or anything, I just changed my attitude for Trudograd. Whereas I wrote my share of Atom's dialogues in a way I wanted to see them in my ideal game I would personally love to play, I wrote Trudograd with some more mass appeal in mind, I guess. Not as much fun for me, since nobody quotes all star in a random dialogue anymore, but shouldn't scare off certain people like before. Doesn't mean Trudograd is completely devoid of my guilty pleasures, jackofshadows or someone with a similar user name made a whole little gallery of "cringe" moments on Steam, but most assuredly the texts are now much less based around my personal tastes or as you put it seem less like they were "made by a 15 y\o"."

Picked it back up a few weeks back and finished it today. Was a bit disappointed with the last two fight, because if I didn't pass the speech/intellect checks then I wouldn't have survived. But IMO that's more on me having been more used to rpg's where you can be good at everything versus a specific fault with the game.

Dunno if I'll go right over to Trudograd importing my character or wait until that one's properly "finished" before starting it again.

Yep some Atom devs are based in Ukraine and the main guy made some anti-war statement.

Caused quite a lot of butthurt from certain individuals.

Finished Trudograd 1.0 (well, 1.082 or something) a couple days back and it was pretty enjoyable too. The new character progress skills are better, the weapon mods and customization welcome, the only thing that really made me go "additem oblivionampoule 1" and respec was that my handgun + shield build was "ruined" by the power-armor not supporting shields because... reasons.
Up until that point was having an absolute blast with that build + the burst pistol you get as a choice for doing a mission for some certain krauts.

Clearly (IMO) is still not finished, because the final "village" is still pretty barren and from the loading screens you get a hint that it's supposed to have much more going than it has at the moment.
A pretty solid expansion overall.

The final update for Trudograd just dropped:

Quote:
After several months of work we are finally ready to present you with the final planned update for Trudograd. In it, you will get to visit brand new locations, meet new characters, and finally build a personal base many of you asked for ever since the release. The update also includes a lot of typo fixes, improved and added interface functions and much more.

For our French-speaking players this update will add the French localization. Please enjoy, and be sure to email us with any suggestions, typo reports and general feedback. We truly hope it was worth the wait!

During all of the time our team worked on this update, we felt your care and worry for our team. We wish to thank every single one of you for all the kind messages you sent us, and we want you to know that our team is alive, well, and ready to conquer new goals... the details of which we will share at some other time.

Thank you for being with us.
