i played these games on release, i didnt read about them on forums now. ofc some things didnt aged well but at their time they were good games. they had up to 20hish campaigns and you were done with them, a good balance. i would say that the older games, even with their faults, have more positive things in them than the later games, thus making some of them better than what we get now. origins felt like a good reboot back into the series, but then what followed was trash again, much like what happened after ezio trilogy with some exceptions

Wow i actually agree with Stefan on something. World must be coming to an end. I remember AC2 and its first expansion being very good, but the third being one that i could do without.

And Origins was undeniably good. Except for that wife bullshit.

I should play Syndicate to finish off the series at some point though.

For what it's worth, I never completed the first one either. It had tons of potential, but it felt more of a gameplay demo. The 2nd one was indeed memorable because of the main character, but it also didn't outstay its welcome. It was great (for me) because it was nicely balanced between reasonably large open maps (at the time) and a focused/linear storyline.

Compared with Valhalla, in which the (way too) big map is divided into areas you need to conquer, using same mechanics each time. I really hate it when games do this.
Even though the recent games have more variety, it still got boring and I never completed this one either. (I think I got at 50% completed, after 40-ish hours, it started to feel like job Very Happy )

Origins was really nice, though. Best since the 2nd, imo. Big map, yes, but a lot of it was optional. (Level-gating the main storyline wasn't a good decision though)
It got bigger/more bloated again with Odyssey, but it was still ok (map was divided into islands, lots were optional).
With Valhalla, they went over the line again Laughing

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

When you say that some games are ' bottom of the barrel manure' that means pure and absolute shit.

Now that you come back and say that there ARE good things about them... means you wasted people's time because you don't know how to express yourself or you're just talking shit for the sake of it.

Such a typical 'great talk'! Rolling Eyes Laughing Facepalm

That wasn't my point though Razz

When you don't like someone's opinion and jump to conclusions and argue, then finding out things weren't exactly as you thought. I mean, if you feel like you wasted your time then it's probably true, but you wasted it yourself.

I'm sure we're all guilty of saying something or another is complete dogshit, yet there were aspects about it we didn't hate, possibly even liked.

I said that my position towards the games was always that they're shit tier games. Then i presented numerous aspects as to why. Don't really know what point you're trying to make here. You can probably find one good thing in every game ever. So ?

Recently replayed Unity at high resolution with graphics boosts and it was an unbelievable experience. What they did was Paris was special there.

Now give us a Rome one and I can happily never play another AC again.

Your posts would gain in value if there was some more nuance to them, both in conveying your opinion and facilitating a constructive discussion, basically. Razz

For instance, writing something like
Quote:
Its mind blowing reading online pretenses that the old games were good, or a return to form or how Unity is secretely a masterpiece now.

..when it's obvious nobody here (and I don't see it elsewhere either..) is saying Unity's a "masterpiece" either, just that now that we got machines capable of running it (it just came out 5 years too early.. Laughing I'm joking btw, not saying it's okay) and that most of the bugs have been ironed out, it's really not such a bad game in itself, with an acceptable story and a pretty damn great recreation of Paris.

And i lot better looking characters than the recent games. They've sacrificed something for something else, that much is clear. The vast open world? I have no clue, but newest titles look terrible detail wise.

exactly, back then it was mostly criticized for bad performance and bugs, other than that it was ok, who says it was a masterpiece lol

Unity had truly some memorable lighting. No AC game managed to create such a splendid atmosphere through lighting since Unity.

Hm... an exception 'might' be Origins. But even there the lighting was... more 'gamey' than realistic.

What was the last Ubisoft game that wasn't delayed? It seems like they are incapable of making even boring shitfests these days.

Why would it matter, anyway?

It's going to be the same shit we've been presented in the last years. Look at Valhalla, the shittiest of them all, yet it got so much praise from... almost everyone.

i think it looks great, everyone keeps forgetting this game is supposed to be very small and not the next gen ac game

it looks like ac origins which was a great one, with ac 1 feel, the setting looks great

and i think its fine, more combat and traversal focused, one big city, like unity. horses, endless map, supernatural powers, rpg elements begone. many people want an old school ac game

I remember before the games went open world how people were sick of this series

Now another comes along that isn't open world, and suddenly that old formula is fucking amazing Laughing

What would be good is the old formula with the attention to detail of a Rockstar, Bethesda or CDPR game. But we all know what it's going to be.
