Fuck Kurtzman.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Quite good.. but I can't help feel that Patrick Stewart is waaaay too old. His voice is trembling, he moves like the geriatric he is etc.

Oh well, it's what we got. They could've gone with Jonathan Frakes (Riker) but he'd obviously fail to draw the same "nerd-star power" that Admiral/Capt. Picard does.

Regarding Picard himself, the end of season 1 saddened me too much to continue watching. The scene where he tells the crew to "engage" almost looks like a (unintentional) parody. And before that, every time he has something longer to tell, it takes ages and his rusty gesticulation is not helping either.

And then you play any season of TNG (where he was ~50 yrs old Shocked ) and see a sharp, ready, no-bullshit captain which noone can interrupt while talking.

Yeah, you can't avoid getting old, but trying to relive the past this way is just too sad.

They're phasers. Rolling Eyes

But yeah, you're right. Its all action no substance these days. I hope the Pike show is a bit more science and discovery than phasers and explosions.

And I also agree on the ending of the first season having been a total trainwreck. From the cloned Starshitps to Data in that purgatory like state and the Picard golem it was all just so bad these writers should be fired, just like the writers of Discovery.

So even if this first episode seems nice, I'm sure they will find many ways to fuck this up.

If I was the guy that created the Enterprise F for that old Star Trek Online contest years ago to create the next Enterprise for the game, I would be pretty excited to see my creation in a live action show and not just in the game. It will be interesting to see if they have the same Andorian Captain for the Enterprise as they have in the game.

think it was last year i watched all of star trek, so I have it fresh in mind. Moriarty, he is a hologram that became self aware because Data wanted a worthy opponent when he was Sherlock holms on the holodeck. It's a 2 parter.
