Anomaly is basically just an upgraded version of CoC.
That may be so, but I can't stand the dated graphics and lighting in any of them. My favorite mod (or frankestein mod) was Call of Misery, merging the huge open world freeplay of CoC with the unforgivingness and gorgeous graphics of Misery. Sadly, it seems that it died out like 3 years ago.
Call of Misery looks that much better compared to anomaly? Thought this was as good as you could get STALKER to look.
Anyway, having a blast with it and have barely even scratched the surface on all the maps/systems. Probably played something like 8 hours yesterday

Anomaly was branched from CoM and ended up supplanting it. Most of the CoM devs ended up switching to Anomaly.
A lot of the CoM visuals ended up getting removed from Anomaly because they were ripped from other games or mods without permission. There is a big ongoing project to replace any ripped assets in Anomaly with high end originals, that's why they dropped the HD character model pack for instance.
It merges the Autumn Aurora graphics and the famous AMK mod. It's a bit crazy cos it has artefact transmutation recipes and tons of new guns and outfits as well as a lot of difficult tweaks.
Yeah, I tried some of the bigger mods that introduced "more realism, smarter AI" etc. which became stupid difficult and introduced so many annoyances which ruined the flow and storytelling. Most of them seems to be aimed at players that like survival style games instead of improving on the original gameplay for players like myself that prefer balanced gameplay where the story and exploration are the focus.
When I did a replay of Call of Pripyat and Clear Sky recently I just installed graphics mods and a few bugfixes, quality-of-life mods and ReShade with various shaders like Deband etc.
Autumn Aurora has an amazing atmosphere indeed. The best combo in my opinion is the one that Steelone posted above (AMK Autumn), which merges AA with all the improvements/fixes from AMK and ZRP - it's vanilla STALKER, but better.
I actually very much enjoy Anomaly and its multiple layers of survival-like elements as well, it's a completely different experience and scavenging through the sandbox can get tense as hell if you don't plan your moves carefully. It's also the only version that doesn't feature the signature stuttering for me which is another plus.
I won't touch any mods that generally changes the gameplay. How much damage mutants take, weapon behavior etc, only quality of life mods in case its too restrictive inventory etc. Mod packs too often become too abitious and a graphical overhaul suddenly changes the whole game.
Well as long as you can customize as this isn't exactly selling it for me personally:
An old-fashioned overhaul aiming to capture the atmosphere and gameplay style of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. trilogy. Featuring an item and balance overhaul, new weathers, weapon pack, interface changes, and more!
But can't download right now because "too many people downloaded this file".
Meh, still no mirror afaik and the gdrive link still says "too many people downloaded this file". Unless it's mirrored/turned into a torrent it's going to be a long time before most people will get their hands on it. Bleh!
I checked the file size of the main file which is 10.9 GB and gamedata is 8.9 GB. The download quota/24 hr is 750GB. That means 38 downloads/day. Meanwhile hundreds or thousands of people want to get it...
So mens, as the zoomers say, what's the new meta for sdalger anomaly?
I'm running 1.52 vanilla at the moment but thinking about slapping it on mod organizer 2 and grafting some mods in (better textures, new models, animations, etc). Any advices?
EDIT: Well, hurrrrrr

Implies going back to 1.5.1 but that one was already pretty flawless so no big deal I guess.

A lot of mods for anomaly are now written in the DLTX format which allows more mods to run together as it allows individual sections of LTX files to be replaced rather than the entire file.
Signature/Avatar nuking: none (can be changed in your profile)
