Of everything I've seen, if you liked Darkwatch back in the 2000s, this is your game. Which I loved Darkwatch despite it's mediocore ratings and reviews. I also love the movie Priest which has that kinda western supernatural thing going for it.
This game is right up my asshole.

Man I played that game non stop when it came out. Such an unloved theme that hopefully comes back.

You clearly never watched some fucked up porn and what people can fit up there. I also have a steam deck so.....get the lube.
On topic though, this game is pure 2000s. Nothing new, nothing that's going to blow you away but it's just fun. No DLC, microtransactions, any of that bullshit, just pure 2000s when devs were still having fun making weird shit. Combat is simple and basic, cut scenes are very fucking well done, story is interesting. Performance is great-ish. Little jank here and there but for a new release, they're better off than damn near anyone else.
It's a solid 7/10 so far, maybe 8/10 with me being biased because I love this fucking supernatural western theme.
Did that cry baby rate it bad because he had to buy it with his own "hard earned" money like he had to with Cyberpunk?
Jesus I could only get halfway through his drivel. I dunno why anyone listens or watches that fucking autistic retard.
"it's a console gaaaaaame"......ya so pretty much every PC game that comes out these days and half of what he reviews. He can't even keep his opinions on shit uniform. Literally made fun of the game not having a jump button but needs a platform? Ya and so fucking did God of War and he ate that game up like it was cake. Can't jump in Elden Ring either lol. Brain dead fucking retard lmao

I hate him. He is such a begging attention whore. He once broke his arm and was scrounging for money because he couldn't play games. Almost every other of his videos have some kind of whining.
sar·casm | \ ˈsär-ˌka-zəm \
1: a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain
2a: a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual
b: the use or language of sarcasm
never heard any whining apart from stuff in games, which i'm fine with. one of few reviewers i can stand.
as for someone asking for donations or membership in tough times, don't really care either, its not like you have to, it's probably one of those videos i just skipped because its not too interesting to me. i guess if someone is invested in a specific reviewers personal character its something you might care for or be interested in, but its not why i watch.
This guy is as biased and inconsistent as reviewers can get. Not to mention all the whining, hissy fits and begging he pulled over the years. I don't think he even has a baseline for his reviews or ever does any research at all. This is why comparing his "work" makes him sound like one of the biggest hypocrites out there.
He said MGSV TPP looks like shit because it lacks color. Mad Max looks great because is colorful. A few videos down the line he says some game looks like trash because is colorful.
The example about jumping given above would be another one.
I once got into a discussion with him where he lost his temper because he complained the whole review about the singleplayer missions in a multiplayer game (R6 Siege) and how ugly a gun looks in game (a real gun).
I could go on, but enough said...
PS: He's a declared FPS player who has the aim of a console games journalist.
I don't think I'll be isodemoing this until some really dry season sometime next year to be honest.
It looks fine™ but not really compelling as I'm no fan of contextual movements/press A to play jankily alligned animation. Something about that just limps my shrimp.
It's a decent average 2000's action game. Back when developers seemed like they were having more fun creating something new and different than releasing the same 23rd CoD or just doing another remake. The gameplay isn't new, it isn't refreshing, it isn't going to blow you away, it's just simple Doom kill and massacre everything on your screen in as bloody as a fashion you can. It can be a bit hand holdy on where to "explore". Puzzles and hidden areas aren't toooo hidden if you just kind of look. My only con here really is sometimes you're offered 2 paths and you don't know which one is the secret room and often you can't go back to it.
Level design is on rails mostly. The areas are well drawn and look cool. Graphics are fine, no better or worse than the Shadow Warrior games where the gibs and blood seem really artificial. They aren't going to make you think wow what a modern marvel.
There are skill trees to upgrade that you build up XP in some way I haven't really noticed how exactly that works. There's weapon upgrades that you use the money you find laying around to upgrade. Plenty of little trinkets to find to add more "history" and what not to the story, which most are voice acted out so finding an old picture and hearing the main character talk about it is nice vs "here have this, read about it I guess I dunno" that most games do.
Story, I'm a sucker for supernatrual western themes. It's your typical, you're part of an organization that's hunting down vampires looking to exterminate them and they're fighting back, but has that futuristic side of things where they've learned how to harness electricity for weapons and so forth, a bit steampunk too.
The voice acting is top notch, they really went with some talent here and the movies for the game are almost a treat every time they come up because they're done so well, and they aren't long enough to take you out of the game. There's been quite a few times I've laughed out loud like an idiot over shit some of them say.
The characters are the kind that you can actually like. A lot of games don't really give their characters much personality that you take a liking to them, or hate them because they're so well written. I feel like most of the characters in this game are very well written and again as I said previously, I can't wait for the next cutscene.
It's a solid 7/10 for me. Some of the game play elements could have been done a bit better but for what it is, I'm having a blast with it. As I said in another post, this is Darkwatch 2 that we never got. Again too, it's not going to blow you away with anything new, it's all been done before but, it's a mindless doom shooting experience with a great theme, fun characters and even better cutscenes.
Wanted to play this - but I use arrows instead of WASD, and the left and right arrow keys are hardbound to rotate the camera no matter what. Rooted around in the config folders to see if I could change the bindings - no dice. Ah well.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Think I'll have to miss this one then also as I use RMB for forwards...
