Holy fuck am I bad at telling what's improved there Other than more realistic/better calculated lighting which doesn't always look better than pre-baked (and thus sometimes more artistically creative) lighting, I don't see it.

will there be two executables/game versions to download ? cause usualy when they do an enhanced, it just means it will run slower for the old customers on same settings ...
just look at how crap skyrim enhanced runs compared to the original
Honestly looks worse in the "next-gen update".... Faces, models, environment... How the fuck did they manage to make it worse?! Oh, yes everything has slightly higher saturation, looks "sniny", a bit better and variable vegetation and there are more clouds. But look at these shots. It's terribly obvious how much worse it is.
PS: Maybe they made a mistake and switched the videos and the stuff about "Next Gen" are actually the older?
I did notice in my 2039473874 hours of playing the game that some areas are really dark. Like... unnatural and annoyingly dark, making things VERY hard to see.
One can notice this at the base of the old / collapsed wall and at the back of Geraldo Rivera. It looks like this is 'fixed' now.

But most things are actually darker in the "next gen" update. Here's another recent comparison video where almost everything is darker.
PS: Ironically, one of the things that are NOT darker is the header image.
Yes, as I said some things have more light in the "next gen" but most look darker. And in the image above the wall and Gerald's back may be more visible and there are more clouds in the sky but the forest in the distance is better in the GOTY. Go figure.
With the new lighting, CDPR might introduce the same problems all lighting mods have had since 2015 - inconsistent lighting. Generally speaking, these mods made the indoor, night, underground, or otherwise dark sections look like dog shit or so dark it was nearly unplayable.
Also, I doubt they bothered to spend as much time as some of these modders did on their lighting mods. You have modders who went scene by scene for months and years through the whole game and still couldn't make it look consistently better than the vanilla lighting.
I never understood that with mods. Praised to the sky for being super realistic and beautiful. Install to try it out and don't see shit during night time or dark scenes.

cleary better for my taste. also 60fps and some other improvements, minor mods and so on - ps5 version here i come. dunno why but i beat witcher 2 but approached w3 few times and always turned it off in 1st village on pc. maybe 60fps and all those improvements will make difference + pad instead of kb/m for that tpp action. anyway its fking FREE update after fking 7 years. cyberpunk launch was a joke but i cant complain about that free w3 patch, also probably some modders got cash if they used their work, i guess. anyway its good to see that they can bring something like that for that old game and not charge single dollar for it. actually deploying it on consoles and so on cost them money (and obviously cost of making that patch). in times when sony charges for some crappy remakes of games half that age i think its resonable.
Long story short. I built a new extension on the back of the house this year and the missus has bought me a PS5 for Xmas so I spend a bit more time in there instead of in the man cave on the PC. I'm playing the Witcher 3 on the PC at present and I want to know if it's possible to get my game save over to the PS5 and visa versa. Does anyone have any knowledge on how to do this and if so, how is it done ?

These changes are boring. I would have much rathered the same graphics and had a bunch of official QOL fixes instead, and some new options for the game. Things like travelling NPCs to liven the world up. Or AI that doesn't just run around in circles like imbeciles, unable to stray from their predefined boundaries. Stuff like that. Slap $15 on it and it'd be well worth it.
I mean, 2 years for this? The entire fucking game was developed in 3.5 years. Obviously the team wasn't as big, but they didn't have to reinvent the wheel.
The better frame rate for consoles will be nice, but I doubt most console users will be able to tell the difference with every new technical aspect.
2 years and one of the main features is the mod that updates the textures that they didn't even make
when i look at the comparisons, sure, if i pause and i look very closely, there's a difference, if i just see the game running side by side i don't see any difference to be honest.
not sure if its youtube but it looks super stuttery to me?

Yes a feature of the next-gen update is cross-save
