Hopefully...

But, sadly, they got infected with EA practices (Denuvo).

Damn not only does the review embargo lift when the game releases but the release is global apparently.
So much for that midnight play session I was hoping for.
Can’t play this until 5AM here in the UK Crying or Very sad

Metacritic 75 so definitely something's up. Guess is "Not great, not terrible"

"The precision of melee combat can't keep pace with the escalating mob of enemies you encounter in the latter half of the game
Death animations are too long and can't be skipped, making repeated deaths irritating
Frustrating difficulty spikes, especially as you approach the game's finale"

Might be another Dean Takahashi type gamer journalist. You know the guy who couldn't jump over boxes in Cuphead Laughing Laughing

Not trying to fanboy i just don't see what in that review made it a 5/10.

IGN gave Alien Isolation a mediocre 5.9/10... so yeah, it doesn't need to mean a lot.

I did think we would see a lot of 9.5/10 reviews though, very surprised to see this low average.

Yeah.. this game has a bit of hype but no where near levels of God of War Ragnarok (trash, trash game.. some of you may have seen my mini rants about it over on the console section) so im sure journalists aren't nearly as afraid of giving a bad review

"Currently I can't even walk through the opening area and turn a corner without stuttering on a 3080 with ray tracing off. Performance is not good at all right now."

Sounds like cocksuckin' Elden Ring all over again.

Sometimes when we get sent review code for a game, the PR will say that they'll be getting PC code later, but if we want we can have a console code so we can get a head start playing the game. There are a lot of reasons that might happen, but I'll be honest: it's never a great sign. I'm usually pretty chillaxed about the occasional wonky animation or frame stuttering when a game runs, but in this case The Callisto Protocol runs so badly on PC that if it were my child and the coach wasn't putting it in to play football - even as a sub in the last five minutes, you know, just to give it a go, like - I'd be saying, "Yeah, bench the sucker, I get it."

The stuttering and slowing down whenever anything moves is especially problematic in a horror game where your survival depends on quickly dodge-reacting to sudden threats. So I can't, right now, recommend you get The Callisto Protocol on PC. If Striking Distance get it running properly? Eh. Maybe.

So another unreal engine 4 stutter victim of which they were fully aware, but the publisher decided to launch it like this anyway

Its not about the hardware, they need to fix the shader compilation in the engine. This isnt even normal stuttering, this is some of the worse stutters in any game ever it seems. Nigh unplayable on PC because everytime there is a new action you get a heavy stutter.

Its 100% certain everyone was fully aware, but probably the publisher decided its not critical enough to delay for. Hopefully people will show them its not true. The CC numbers are very low. The entire discourse around the game is negative. The rating on steam is negative. This will help fix the issue sooner than later

Suddenly everyone has a 3090 on steam Laughing

People claim it runs fine on dx11 though. It's like the good old days: game pushing limits for hardware: enjoy the slideshow. But in the past you could get a new rig for cheap and hardware was outdated in a year anyway.

I imagine being outraged playing a benchmarkish game after buying a 4000 euro's rig and then your game runs like ass.

Thanks Nvidia and semi industry for ruining PC gaming.

You mean you just bought the GPU, because $4000 gets you fucking nothing in 2022. Of course its not about the hardware, but the fact that AAA development is 150% focused entirely on $600 consoles is. You have to be retarded to spend a lot of money on a PC in 2022, you pay 10-15x what you could get in a console and the game runs shit/worse..

Also not that i've read or cared about reviews or gaming journalism since the 90's, but not one comment that the game is unplayably broken from anyone after NDA lift?

in before "duRR huRR its Ok if you PlAy with DirEcTx11 and disable halF thE seTTingS!1" let us know if this is cracked else hard pass..

It’s a solid 8/10 so far in my opinion.

Does the stuttering go away during one's session at least, once the shaders are precached ? Couldn't they add some shader pre-caching loading like a lot of games do nowadays ? Dafuq Laughing

Surely the stuttering is down to Denuvo cause there's no way they'd release a game in this state on PC. Cool Face

RTX 4090. 13900k.

The stutter is just fucking insane. Goes from 100+fps down to 10 fps then up. Rinse and repeat. Elden Ring is smooth as butter compared to this mess of a game.
