See, thats exactly what "unoptimized" means. Raytracing is pretty scalable. Number of rays, number of bounces, different effects (lightning, illumination, shadows, reflections etc.) So you can make it work on a number of hardware.

I don't expect the highest RT settings to work on most hardware. But there should be means to adapt settings.

Yeah, pretty much. I remember video on YT where guy was showing RTGI shader for Reshade and there he got plenty of control about number of rays, bounces and such. But come on... he is just a guy, it is difficult to make by company with hunders of employees, right?

12700k + 3070TI with ultra graphics (not uber), RT + DLSS quality and inside 1st bedroom where game starts I've got ~50fps.
I am @work now, so I can't play more atm, but I doubt that my peformance is going to get better further Very Happy

DX11 version runs basically 2/3 as good as the pre-patch version even if you had the same exact mods + other ones on top of them. Why ? Eh, who knows.
The DX12 one aka the version with the additions you couldn't get before has shit performance due to the usual complete lack of understanding of the library seen in previous high profile games, with the kind of performance highlighted by Rifle. It's not going to be magically fixed unless it has to do with a deep drivers issue - which I don't buy at all. Those constant stutters hint that something is amiss in that regard.

Curiously, console versions seem very well optimized and apparently run like a dream.. Laughing

For all the waiting, anticipation and fanfare, it's pretty lazy work. Some long-standing bugs inherent to the mods included (even if said bug was very well known and the creator highlighted it profusely) going through in the end product doesn't really scream quality either.
Thank god they didn't break more than that and that the game still works.. it's not a feat for such an old game.. at all !

I hope nobody answers with the "But it's free" approach.. anyone can figure out they're not doing it for the beauty of being that generous Laughing They did it for new PS5/XS sales and that is it.
For all the flak it gets about being constantly re-released, Skyrim SE with all its faults was nowhere as lazy. This is basically grabbing a handful of high profile mods, adding some DX12 crapola on top of it so you can add a RTX logo and calling it a day.

Their QA standards were always low, doesn't seem like 2077 was enough to improve on that just yet Very Happy

looks great, better than in videos (quite common i guess)

good / decent FPS with raytracing and everything else on highest. didn't check but feels like 50-60 range. heavy stutters every now and then which is just awful and immersion breaking

froze after 8 minutes of playing, had to log out to close it down

latest nvidia drivers. i have a ton of shit in the background though, should probably close it down Embarassed

Think I saw some people reporting performance was noticeably worse with the newest Nvidia drivers but since performance reports following such releases are full of half-truths and what not, take it with a grain of salt ! Razz

Until they fix the performance issues with DX12, stay away. CDPR didn't even bother to include mod fixes for well-known bugs some of the incorporated mods had.

Don't be negative you guys, I'm sure they'll work out launch issues like these on phantom liberty... or cyberpunk 2078... or TW4... or etc etc

even with it disabled it runs worse but that's because of the HD textures etc

i'm sure they can optimize things better but people acting like it's some kind of royal fuck up when it's a free upgrade Laughing

When they start hyping with launch dates and shit then they deserve it. Test it properly, kthnx.

The raytracing bit i agree with W1234. If you expect 4K 165 fps with everything on max on a 2060, or even a 3080 your head is a bigger problem than the current game.

didn't change anything in the control panel settings. i'm so out of the loop when it comes to graphics settings these days, probably something i can do to make it look better + run better.

Before changeing RT settings - I had ~50 fps just the beginning of Blood&Wine, first village.
Ultra without any RT maxed 144fps. I've tried to fiddle with setttings, but ...I can't even change RT settings now becouse W3 crashes Very Happy
I could ofc try to edit .ini or smth, but I am too annoyed to even try.
I will wait for a new patch. Or two. Three even.
I've still got games to play in my backlog...

EDIT: 12700k+3070TI.

Changing RT settings while playing can cause crashes or decrease the performance. If that happens, quit to menu then reload the game
