I recommend this mod from Nexus:

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/7245 (Updates DLSS version from 2.4.0.0 to 2.5.0)

I gained over 20% average FPS and went from an average of 85% GPU usage to 98%.

I've changed right after premier to 2.4.12 and didn't notice anything.
Game stutters way to much to actualy even notice ghosting.
And changeing quality <> performance makes no difference at all on my rig, just like before HF.
Will try 2.5.0 but I don't expect much.

Moar DLSS. Maybe someone wants to give them all a chance Very Happy

Such a mess

can't play this on a 4090 & 13700k

frametimes are just so uneven, so many hitches

DLSS3 can't save it either

makes it very smooth 95% of the time but doesn't matter if the remaining 5% are hitchy messes, which DLSS3 kinda amplifies

camera doesn't feel right either

I thought it might be shader compilation. But you can stay in one spot and just run in circles and it'll stutter every now and then

Sadly, after seeing the game with RT enabled I can't go back anymore, it looks so much more plain without it, especially the water bodies look hideous Laughing

I think its the shadows and Global Illumination that really make a difference. I didn‘t care so much about reflections. Anyway RT really adds something. But the performance tradeoff is high too.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Yeah, I though I heard some crunching sounds in my case... Thought it was a rat or something.

But, phew... good to know it was RT!

- EDIT -

A nice little mod:

Game doesn't even run perfectly smooth in the DX11 version

Meanwhile Cyberpunk is twice as demanding, especially with RT and runs perfectly smooth

This is what happens when you re-release a 7 year old game but don't update/optimize the engine one bit

Some DX12 wrapper will solve it, right?

Not with modern features, not at 4k

We’ve released another hotfix for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PC. It further improves the overall stability and introduces fixes to photo mode, Arabic language in the game, toxicity bug, Steam Deck and more. The game version won’t change.....................

THERE HAS TO BE some explanation beyond the 'bad derp dev'.

Are all the AAA companies using third-party 'perfeSSional gaemes testerz' Firms with imbecile employees / testers to QA their games?!

They just don't seem to care.
They had to know how bad it was, and that it would be massively reported all around following what happened right after CP2077 launched. Are they also planning to release a witcher animu to win back the fans? Very Happy

I tried this mod with quality version and got like 10+ fps with RT, so I manage to hit in the beginning of B&W ~60fps. But it doesn't really matter becouse game stutters with RT so badly that you feel like there is like 2-3fps actualy...
Ehh.. so broken...

Again, if you’re on AMD, activate Anti-Lag in the driver and your stutters will be gone. I play with a 6900XT and all RT Effects on with 50-60 FPS and its smooth. You need that Optimized RT mod of course and FSR2. For better Sharpening I installed reshade and activated AMD CAS.

Another update is out:

"
Patch 4.01 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now available! It improves the overall stability and performance of the game and brings various fixes.

Here's the list of changes for this update:

PC-SPECIFIC

Fixed an issue where the Screen Space Reflections setting wasn't working on PC despite being turned on. Players who had previously set their SSR setting to high may notice a performance impact.
Added a new performance mode for ray-traced global illumination, which can be toggled by players with compatible hardware. It improves frame rate by prioritizing performance over range and precision.

QUESTS & GAMEPLAY

Battle Preparations - Fixed an issue where it could be impossible to interact with Avallac'h during the objective "Let Avallac'h know everything's ready."
Family Matters - Fixed an issue that could cause the game to crash during the transition to Ciri's Story: Out of the Shadows when speaking to the Bloody Baron.
King's Gambit - Fixed an issue where it could be impossible to participate in the fistfight with the second Vildkaarl due to an invisible obstacle.
Wine Wars: Belgaard - Added a retrofix for the issue we fixed in 4.00, where the quest couldn't be completed if the player destroyed one of the required monster nests during exploration.
A Dangerous Game - The armor in Caesar's room should now change its appearance when the Alternate Nilfgaardian Armor is turned on.
Axii Puppet - Increased the health and damage dealt by the puppet.
Adrenaline Rush mutation should now work according to its description.
Various small fixes to quests and cutscenes.

LOCALIZATION

Fixed various issues with Arabic localization.
Added the localized versions of Orianna's song "Lullaby of Woe" in Korean and Simplified Chinese.
Adjusted Priscilla's lip-sync animation to match her voice-over in Simplified Chinese during the song "The Wolven Storm".

Please note: these are only the most notable changes. The patch contains other minor fixes that didn't make it into this list.

"

New update, new problems. Very Happy
