What CPU I get?
7900x couldn't see the extra $200 for the 7950x, for my usage.

So the 4070 Ti will cost as much as a 4080? Whats the point of the product then?
4070 Ti is renamed 4080 12GB.
Pricing levels are ridiculous because 4080 16GB should've been abour 700-850€, so 4070 Ti should definitely be below that. Maybe 450-600€. NVIDIA is testing us at the maximum, that's why we should stay away from thsese cards as long as they keep asking such prices.
4080 16GB model is currently competing with the 3090s because they have very similar prices with 4080 being a newer and faster card.

$1000 for a mid tier 12GB card? Not that many people will need 12GB, but just the principle.
I have a feeling Nvidia is where Intel was 10 years ago: Hitting a wall, but refusing to adapt because they was the untouchable king for so long. They still are, but only by an arms length anymore and the gap is closing.
So they just make incremental changes on new gen, slap a premium price on what is midrange items hoping the 'king of the hill' name momentum makes up for it.
Like the 4090 is still on top of the pile. But I didn't realize just how fucking big, power hungry and absurd they had to make it to get over the bar of 'top dog' with it.
Wasn't until my friend sent me a pic of a Asus TUF Gaming 4090 in a system he is building at his shop. It's a cinder block sized chunk of card that made a mid tower look like a mini ITX build without a reference scale to see the system isn't small, it's the GPU thats huge. And that drew up to 515 watts when he tested it.

The price is insane, but Ada isn't inefficient. There are plenty of benchmarks that show that the Watt/Framerate ratio has improved and is far ahead of RDNA3.
Not saying its bad per say. just outrageous what it took to stay ahead of the pack. A 3 to 4 slots card (depending on if Reference or 3rd party) for $1700 and needs 550~ watts for itself.
I would have got one instead of a 7900xtx in a heartbeat if it wasn't for those things.
That price, and whats the point of having extra PCI slots if all of them are behind a massive 4 slot GPU? (I use one for USB 3.2 card for more SS20 slots)

Just in case you don't know, Ada consumes a lot less power at same performance compared to RDNA3.
..I never said it didn't.
You seem to think I am making argument of Nvidia vs AMD on watts per frame, OR I'm saying 4090 is bad at what it does. I even admitted it was better. I was giving the result of a decision of why I personally went with one over the other.
So lets take wattage out of it, say Nvidia used 5 watts AMD used 400. Still $1700 for a card that takes 4 slots is a no go for me. Personally. Its not objective, or needs bar charts to show anything.
If this a team jersey fight and one needs to be a winner from your stance. Sure Nvidia holds the champion belt. But if I need to pay $1700 for tickets to see that team win. Im not going to the game
@escalibur
Not sure what those images was for (?)
Unless you thought I asked which to get. I was asking did AmpegV4 mean which one did I get.

WTF Nvidia.
$800 for what is your mid tier card? Counting for inflation I got the 980 and the 1080, both when they was the 'top' option (before *90 was out yet) for around $680 in 2022 cost.
The 970 and 1070 was around $415-440 in today's cost. They are doubling profits over inflation rise.
And when did they start releasing Ti before the non Ti, or before even announcing the non Ti?
Does anyone get tricked by this ploy of people saying the 4080 was underwhelming, and Nvidia going "Oh shit, did we say 4080? [writes on card with sharpie] See we meant 4070 Ti."
Its like porsche releasing a boring underpowered model for 2022 for $90k and people complaining. So they go "Wait no its more powerful volkswagen for $90k" hoping since people thought the car was underspec'd for that price for a porsche, people will pay 90k for a souped up volkswagen while changing nothing but the badging on the car.

where are all these mining cards ? did amd and nvidia buy them back and bury them in the sand to keep prices up ? or some pro scalpers who know have warehouses full of them and are just sitting on them selling 1 at a time ?
sounds silly, but its happened before and it will happen again in other industries
Crypto prices are low and therefore no demand for overpriced cards from miners. No one wants this shit, the best thing that could happen is for these cards to sit on shelves so they rethink ridiculous pricing.
At this point you're an idiot to game on PC vs. console.

Their last hope being unoptimized Raytracing effects in games sponsored by Nvidia.

Well, i sold my old card for 900 Euro, i get most my games 50-80% cheaper than PSN. I'm sure the card is downpaid in due time.

I disagree on the decent price. This is RTX 2000 all over again. Nvidia will salvage this with a RTX 4000 Super series or quickly release the 5000 series.
My son needs a new card, his old faithful 1080ti I had before him finally died. Seems he doesn't know what dust is, or that it needs to be blown out of fans and heat sinks...
Since he needed one, and to try to be objective on which is best. Will test it against the 7900xtx I have and see which is better for my use cases, and give him the other one
