No that's what beta has always meant. Every game I got into early before final had wipes, limited content, and the actual game story and world. I dont think I EVER got into a beta that was some specific made separate world just for the beta.

How are they suppose to beta test the story areas for bugs, dialog, combat, and world. If they don't test those actual parts?

Not to be snarky PickupArtist, more tongue in cheek:
Buys game for early access to the content. Upset he got access early before launch to see the content.

For sure they can have one town with the gameplay being generic dungeon delving without any story

I think the comment went over your head DX. I was being facetious hehe. I’m old and agree with you on the original term for beta.

I didn’t play the whole act and skipped most of the story. I think they wanted people playing a while for maximum stress test. D3 beta was tiny in comparison, just up to skeleton king

Played this a bit.

UI is... very 'beta'.
Gameplay is excellent.
Atmosphere is excellent.
Graphics are... to my liking.
Sound is good.
Story is... something.

Played if for around 6 hours and it is very average.

There's nothing wrong with the combat (only played necro, tried bone and hemo mage routes) and it is fine, it is functional, but not very satisfying. I find there's a bit too much visual clutter as well.

The environments are pretty but bland and the dungeons are repetitive as fuck, even when the tileset looks different the layout is very recognizable and it just makes it seem cheap. It is the same issue I had with elden ring, where to me, the existence of those dogshit dungeons made the game worse. Just quantity over quality.

Sound is good overall, voice acting as well. Don't care for the story one bit, so not going to comment, just that I found the early game player introduction and all that poor.

Don't like this whole pointless bussy work of collecting resources, just such a waste of time. A mindless "mechanic" put there just cause others did it. Having other people on the map is not my cup of tea with arpgs, but whatever... The whole always online bit is not really so much for the user anyway, and it isn't going to change.

Map is too big and movement is too slow, maybe it will get better with the mount, but I can only judge it on what I've played.

Way too much abundance of rare and legendary items this early. I do hope this gets changed in the full game, and it was only a thing in the beta, because really .. why are blues and especially commons even in the game?

UI is serviceable.

That's exactly how I feel about the Diablo franchise - or any other aRPG really. I don't dislike them, but I always hope to magically find something interesting in them, only to realize after a few hours that I'm merely wasting my time with something that's designed to be a more advanced version of cookie clicker Razz

all good dxwarlock Wink But to be clear i didnt buy it, heck i farmed wow gold to buy it and couldnt get myself to push the purchase button sofar. And this open beta now , confirmed my idea of what this game is, super bland mediocrity that doesnt respect my time, very little quality of life stuff. So im probalby not even gonna buy it with the money blizzard gave me for their wow gold Cool

I get your point about the meaning of beta, i guess the word beta screws me over, it should be a server stress test, cause lets face, nobody at blizz is reading all the bug reports millions of people submit, it just doesnt happen , especialy when u know the track record of their bug fixings of the world of warcraft closed betas, tons of bugs were never fixed and at launch u could find many major bugs that had already been reported during the closed beta years before launch, so thinking in an open beta they will read everything, is just not happening and the word beta turns into a lie, its a stress test and i think some effort could have been done to not spoil part of the story , but maybe thats just me

pretty sure i wont buy it, unless some friends really gonna go all out and do some lan, but i think they all will have same opinion as me and regret they bought it.

Its just dreadfull, doesnt look amazing the gfx, the items and stuff on the floor like potions n gear looks like copy pasta from a mobile game, ( we all know which one ) , all monsters n monster skills recycled from d3, its a free to play mobile game they put a 70 dollar pricetag on and nobody can convince me otherwize, the proof is in the pudding staring right at us and they are getting away with it cause they got a ton of shills pumping out positive youtubes and when krip or lama dare give it a 5- 6/10 , many of these mental fanboys like totally go apeshit on them, its mental reading some reddit comments, zero intelect, pure lilith mother cult fanboys who would butcher them streamers if they had the chance Confused Laughing calling it diablo immortal in a pc jacket summarizes it very well

diablo fans deserve better after a decade Crying or Very sad

Watched a Review Video with some commentary from the Devs and they said the drop rates have been increased for the Beta and everything will be refined once the game comes out.

worst part was like them saying they wanna reward exploring, yet whole map is devoid of interactive stuff except hollowed out tree stumps i dont bother clicking on anymore as its a total waste of time, and soooo little secret areas or things to click on at dead ends ... , they could have some so much with the tiles, instead they went with these shitty POE story stones nobody bothers reading. The books n scrolls dropping in d3 actually where intrigueing

90% of the map is devoid of any actual content

in d3 u can get chain events happening one after the other, defend a guard, cursed chests, kill a pack, avoid a trap, here in d4 ... NOTHING .....

Come on, you forgot how D3 was at release. It was just play the game 3 times to get to the hardest difficulty and then grind for loot. That was the game.
D4 seems seems content wise at release. Everthing from the past always looks better but gaming has improved a lot, had diablo 3 been released today the fail would be epic.

I dont know, the game feels too slow for me. Not like you have in diablo 2. There's something off. It feels like D3, just more dark and less cartoonish.

After playing a while the last two weekends, I can say that I truly do NOT like how zoomed in it feels. It is too tight. I guess that is my biggest gripe with the game so far.

I finished this beta today as necromancer summoner and must say that I will not buy it. I like to collect money more than playing Diablo IV (I like to be scrooge in that situations).
Game is bland for me and not fulfill my needs.

Lol. You could say that about any game in this genre. And it's not like it's the dumbest genre either. Like adventure games you just click stuff.
There's enough game in this one compared to many many others.

The "world" boss (Ashava) was lame. Kind of outdated and felt cheap when MMOs have been doing it for years with much better boss fights. 0 excitement. Embarassed

tried it, currently level 15

it's about what I expected, which is to say it's not really what I want from diablo

feels like an MMO

really slow start, go around talk to NPCs, wait for NPCs to open doors, wait for NPCs to move into position to be allowed to talk to them so they can then proceed to open a door. too much talking in general though I understand at least you'll only have to do the story shit once and on the next character you can skip the story..
lots of slow running around from place to place, which is par for the course for an MMO but for diablo I should be fighting 95% of the time and I feel like I'm fighting only 50% of the time I'm in the game

all skill damage is based on weapon damage (even spells, everything is just % of weapon damage) which I didn't like in D3 and still don't like here

enemies level syncing to you sucks too. everywhere is the same. at least it's convenient that you can play with others no matter what their level is and they can still get loot and experience they can use... but yeah..

skills could be fine if there are enough item modifiers to skills, of which I have seen a couple, but that remains to be seen

so yeah. Diablo X WoW, super streamlined. looks good and feels good to play when you're in the thick of it at least...
