From what I understand, you can jump only between cities or villages, you can't just pop in the wilderness. Also, you don't have to visit the place to appear there. If you have a mission to go to X, and you never been in X, then you can jump stright there....that's what I gatherd.
That's what I've read, as well.

Ok i'll tell you exactly how it goes down:

You can teleport to any of the major cities right at the start of the game. You can teleport to ruins, and other places of interest (Small villages, Hermit houses etc) only after you have visited them. You can't teleport when you're in a dungeon or other indoor location

That's entirely too long. I'm not gonna make it goddamnit! I'm already to the point of sub lunacy along with the rest of you raving bunch of crazed bastards. In 7 days it may go retail, but I will either be: A. Dead from sheer anticipation B. Anticipation having reached such a point that it loops back around on the scale and I no longer give a rats ass about the title. Very Happy

As for the "fast travel" system - see Animal Mothers reply a few above this one. He pegged it accurately I believe. *edited out my bs response*

Was anything ever mentioned about food/drink giving a bonus or being required in some form or another? Always thought that would be a cool addition (I know some mods for MW implemented it).

The fun part of Morrowind was playing to make your character more powerful. Good goal, and it works well for stringently monitored games like World of Warcraft, but in the end, Morrowind always fell short in the sense that, just in the course of your duties, you felt too weak, too much in need of more stats etc.

So your quest line switches from FedEx/babysitter/hitman to getting more stats. In Morrowind, that was easy as hell to do, and after a while, you began to wonder what the point of the whole thing was, and why not just use the editor and save yourself 50 hours of playtime.

Unless they make playing and exploring in Oblivion more interesting, rather than "go here, do this, come back, go there..." the game will lose its visuals value very quickly, and without real interest in doing the same old quests 500 times, the only thing left in the game to do that's interesting is stats, which the devs can't guard closely enough. I hope this game will not degenerate into another Morrowind, which is the worst kind of farming experience imo.

Morrowind:
1. level to ~15, get items, etc. (become reasonably powerful.)
2. Find a stronghold populated with golden saints and daedra
3. Get a few Grand Soul Gems, and buy tons of common gems from the vendor.
4. Farm Golden Saints for drops and souls, farm creepers for souls
5. Go to town, sell the creepers, use the Golden saint souls to get your gear enchanted with insane stats that make the game pointlessly easy.

or.

1. Play until you get Boots of Blinding Speed
2. Open TES editor, find the boots of blinding speed spell, and change it to give insane stats.

Either way, the game's not worth playing afterwards.
