Performance is horrible on PS5 too. It's spending most of the time under 60fps in performance mode and there's some stuttering. They say it gets better after Coruscant, we'll see.

I agree after playing the first hour.
It’s not game breaking but it is noticeable :/
It's actually worse on the PS5 than a good PC. Even after Coruscant, there's very few areas where it's at a locked 60fps. Mostly seems to be 30-50fps in the open world with lots of juddering due to no VRR, some stuttering, and endless tearing.

But Respawn said issues are because of low performance CPUs or Win10
so they are fully aware that releasing something on pc requires investing time and attention to testing but lo and behold it was a total surprise that their RC would run like dogshit on said platform
i guess this translates to
Quote:
"we were fully aware that our product would run like dogshit on your expesive fucking hardware but since EA set the date and we know that you'd line up to buy it anyway we said 'ah fuck it'... maybe it'll be playable in the months to come, don't expect too much though"
They're always aware There was not a single breathing being in that company that didn't know the state of the game. I guess it was just time to ship the game, and fix it later. This sounds like management.
That's why Digital Foundry was about the only ones who didn't get an advanced copy as the rest of the press, when in 99.99% of cases they get the same stuff as regular outlets do. They wanted to avoid them specifically for the launch, it seems. And thats why EA's twitter accounted posted before the release yesterday that we can expect a fuckton of patches going foward.
Who knows the exact reason. Maybe the budget got too big. This is easily a $200 million game, maybe more. And they couldnt afford another delay. Maybe they wanted to release it at this exact moment for their financial reports. Who knows.
The ps5 frame rate is indeed all over the place although I prefer this than locked 30 fps.
But yeah it doesn’t have vsync it seems and is full of tearing, hopefully they can improve that with a patch. I guess not only pc games have issues these days
The game is pretty cool though and I like it better than The fallen order.

Well of course. You got to take into account consoles have 30 fps on high graphical fidelity (likely medium settings) and likely low on 60. matching that on pc should be quite doable
"We are fully aware PC users are idiots and use Win10 on a Win11 systems and have cheap CPU's paired with expensive GPU's. It's all all your own fault! We never make mistakes, yo! But we will still pretend to be doing something as you know were the coolest too!"
Chipsets designed for windows 11....what? Chipset drivers are, chipsets are not designed 'around' a version of windows.
Sure a MB and OS can use new features on a chipset (TPM and power saving features/modes).
But to say it as if it was 'designed' for 11, and not for 10 is a bit weird. They make it sound like "You are using your processor wrong, but that's fine, we will work around you using it wrong for you in a patch".

Such a shame. Was really looking forward to this one. Not worth buying EA pass now when the fix is likely weeks or months away. Despite their idiotic statements, they're probably working on it
Steam is already up to 47% for the game. From around 30% yesterday. Some people are so stupid, that they're working against themselves. The only reason we got this acknowledgment yesterday is because the game was bombing, articles came out on every site about it. But, as with any game, you have the cohorts of stupid who feel some sort of personal need to "protect" the game, to not talk badly about something they like. It's getting filled with threads "it works, guys" "stop review bombing and upgrade your pc"
This is called... : DAMAGE CONTROL... control...trol...troll...
It's a cohort of EA minions un-bombing the reviews and moderating. Every corporation has such tools of influence. I know I would.
Also, I suspect some (negative) threads on the discussion boards are not turning really visible to other users. I thrashed the game in a civil but "hOnEstly bruTaL" way and NO ONE replied to that thread. Not one single minion posted to counter the harsh critique...

It's the best consumer -> totally retarded purchase decisions, ok with non-functional working product, cut and ransomed content, monthly payments, expensive skins etc, gambling mechanisms, game non-functional when the dev shutdowns server, and all the things gaming is in 2023. You can't fault/blame publishers and dev's for the state of it when the customer buys it anyway. I can't think of any other industry / product where you can get away with this, bad movies/tv reboots and cash grabs are a thing but at least it's a full movie, with no green-screen encountered, the sound works, and it runs at 24fps every time
Look at Calisto Protocol:
-Forgetable story.
-Poor performance, didn't run properly on launch.
-Awful gameplay, due to the fundamental concept of the games combat system.

Then there is just fanboyism, especially with this IP. Must defend his precious star wars IP no matter how shit it is (it seems a lot of people work this way).
you guys know whats most depressing , this shitshow IS the new NORMAL
everybody has gotten used to it -- a game thats barely playable still sits at a metascore of 85 ish? and just wait for the euphoric first sales reports.... (c.f. harry potter game)
or were just getting too old to tolerate all the bullshit ..
