Cool, I really enjoyed the first one.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

The best announcement of the show. I though they ditched it, but now i'm seriously hyped about this.

I hope the writing is at the focus this time and that this be their magnum opus. Also, I wish the story is delivered in such a way that makes me go proud the're kinda my team.

Have you obtained a sizeable amount of stars in the first one? The game hid it's real puzzles between the obvious macguffin puzzles.

Nope, gave up well before that. I heard several similar opinions, but for me it was a bit like The Witness. Sure, the environmental puzzles are neat, but if you have to go through dozens generic ones first to find some fun, it's just not my game.

Like The witness, a game that hides the best of itself for the most attentive eyes capable of finding it, in fact they were the 2 most shocking videogame experiences played in my life,
both philosophical in different ways.

Same feelings here, but I think Talos Principle went even deeper than The Witness. Both very memorable games though.
One of the most fascinating experience I had was Antichamber, give it a shot if you haven't yet.

Absolutely, The Talos Principle + The Witness + Antichamber is the ultimate mindfuck™ puzzle trilogy that will make you question things up until the very end and where lots of eureka! moments will be had. I wholeheartedly recommend them as well Very Happy

Unlike the other games mentioned here recently, Talos Principle has a very tangible conclusion that it makes the player arrive at. The way the player is nodded towards a path to tear down the borders of the game's design, not knowing if he is solving puzzles in an intended way or abusing bugs, is still rather unique in gaming.

In order to give it's intended audience this experience, the game is willing to alienate many players who don't vibe with it. This bravery is one of my favourite examples of games as art.

Also the DLC is one of the best expansions ever made. It properly escalates the puzzle difficulty and while the main game is perfectly self-contained, the DLC expands the game's story/lore/philosophy in an additional dimension that adds meaningful nuance.

Fanboy mode off.

I tried Antichamber but it didn't break my heart, unfortunately, I tried and tried again but it's too alienating to get lost without points of reference.
Speaking of The Witness, going OT for a second, how rewarding is that moment when you do the environmental puzzles, I understood it after many hours of playing and it basically opened up the other 50% of the game to me, probably as well best part Laughing That i think was my best Eureka! moment ever.

Haha likewise, it can be a very deceiving game indeed at first. I was almost ready to accuse it of being lazy since it felt like doing chores, but then I (slowly) started to see the complete picture and the genuine brilliance of its matroska-shaped level design/world, much like the extreme gaming equivalent of the old Xzibit meme.

Somebody even made an official parody of it: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1985690/The_Looker/ Laughing

The parody seems brilliant Very Happy The Witness is perhaps one of the great masterpieces of our time, perhaps in many years when video games will be treated like movies and books it will be remembered as one of the most innovative contemporary works, among other things with the style graph that has I'm sure it will age very well even in 100 years.

In my opinion it has the greatest twist ever implemented by a video game (the environmental puzzles that nothing and nobody tells you how to "see") and when I'm old (we're close Very Happy) hoping I've forgotten it, I'll will play it again, as Gilmour said "blessed are those who hear Dark Side for the first time", I say blessed are those who can play it for the first time and receive enlightenment.
All those who have stopped before are not fit to understand, in my opinion, I say it without wanting to offend anyone, but here we are talking about a work that is not really for everyone but which raises the concept of video game to levels never seen before.

I haven't pre-ordered the second game.
I own the first game.
I was able to download, install, and play all the way through the demo.

Could download it as well (no preorder). Like the new environments and bits and pieces. Performance is dismal unfortunately, hope they add resolution scaling.
