Played it a little bit yesterday. Can someone who played other hack and slash tell me does this have anything that is something new or better from PoE or Grim Dawn? Because... ehhh... first few hours are rather lackluster. Is there some other skill tree like constelations in Grim Dawn? I can't even set the behavior of my minions.
(It's not a whine post but serious question about a game that costs 70 bucks or euros)
Activision ported a lot of things people liked from Diablo 2 like the skills. They've also added MMO features which some like and some hate. It will have good cinematics, and maybe music (but it's not Matt Uelmann's music so meh) and production quality. If that's what you like or you like the any of the last 5 Blizzard releases than you will probably like the game. If your into gameplay then I would say there's nothing new or interesting here.
well breaking items for aspects and popping them in other items, dodge mechanics, different combat feel than d1/d2/d3 (it actually reminds me of god of war for some reason, playing on gamepad specially), open world mechanics, renown system, horse, non linear story and so on, all new to series, not new to the genre itself cuz its 20 years after d1, you dont need to reinvent the wheel.
This game needs a feature that lets you switch between builds.
lol, nope, why? whats the point of you know, build in that case? also the items make the build work in the end run, so whats the point in tree change? and that feature is called respec
the game is great but i have never seen a fanboy like you, no matter what people write, let it be little bit of criticism or their opinion which is not exactly like you want to hear it BAM you go crazy "LOL NOPE" "GET BETTER U BAD" "U BRAINDEAD"
yeah, exactly what i wrote above right? damn, special snowflakes everywhere. yet people here complain about streamlined modern easy gamedesign, prising old times and so on, then we need separate button for everything to switch everythinig on the fly, or quite simple skill tree is too complicated and "u will feel bad without checking it on youtube". its like modern gaming jurnos with every from software game. think dude. or dont, fuck off "bitch", since that was the 'argument' you used, ffs people.
So i'm a huge DIABLO fan, played all 3 main games and the IMMORTAL one wich... Ended in a vague ending like "Oh, keep playing because errrrrrrrr"
So i wanted to ask if the game plays the same way as IMMORTAL (Waiting times for certain things to happen or "You need X level to continue the main story", materials to level up, etc), or does it plays as previous D entries (Aka play as much as you want but when you cannot do shit go do side quests, etc)?
Thanks in advance (Planning to get the STANDARD version btw)

$69.99 for grindfest and after grindfest guess again, another grindfest, enjoy it guys
every video game is basically non beneficial from real world perspective activity, so whats the point of you enjoy it, either is competitive fpp, hns grindfest, tetris, fucking adventure games, rts, whatever.
we learned our breastmilk lesson and respect womans now
now here are some brainded tits and a woman as sex object
please stop defending mediocrity, its sad, even on reddit people figured out they gotten conned into d3.5, progression is shit, story is stupid and the elite mobs systems are identical to d3 , wallers, poisons, arcane beams (u cant even properly see this time)
not to mention everyone hated the gems space waste, and yet here we are still wasting half ur inventory space, and watching quest items drop when ur side quest thing is full, lame ....
heck we even had a quest where the fucking quest item was thrown out of ur inventory when u portaled back to town ... , u had to walk some stupid bottle to some dude ... like wtfffff
seeying the same random event a dozen times in the first 5 hours of gameplay shows u how lazy and how little they cared about randomness and how low the level of creativity over at the company truly is. All the talent is long gone
oh and no way the game was playtested properly, there was so many shit happening like teleporting through game edges, rubberbanding, npcs who cant keep up n get stuck at doorways or edges .... just felt bad for everyone in party looking at this obvious shit anyone who played it once would have reported and have fixed for a better experience

Level scaling fixes that.
Go anywhere, kill anything you want. Even team up as level 2 and level 50. Each gets damage and scaling on the same mob you are attacking to make it work so they can fight the same thing, without losing any damage or abilities.
For the "Oh, keep playing because errrrrrrrr" I cannot give a good feedback on.
As I dont do story or game lore centric motivation to move forward. I'm level 52 now and not a drop of idea what they story is after doing it all. (I skipped literally every dialog and cutscene).
My game story is: "Does it have a red health bar? it needs to die. Because doing that enough makes my numbers bigger and damage go BRRRRR harder".
So my whole gameplay from start to finish in most games is "Oh, keep playing because errrrrrrrr" or more simply "Play it until the mechanics gets boring".
But a vague answer is: It's like every hack and slash. At some point the only reason to keep playing is the game mechanics haven't gotten stale enough to not bother playing anymore yet and you still enjoy them.

I'm with DXW on this. Level scaling works well here and will allow me to play with friends who buy later without any issues (other than already having done said quests, but at that time, I'm just playing to help and have fun with them). It's a beautiful game with a mostly tried and true approach to it all.
Hope they can fix/mitigate the rubber-banding though.

Tetris also cost $69,99?
Diablo 4 look nice, but to much grindfest for me and being to much repetitive, i burned out from this genre of games, recently played the shit out of Grim Dawn.
No it cost $85.17, counting for inflation
This first major release of tetris (when Nintendo bought it) cost $34 US for the NES in 1989. Thats $85.17 today.
(Nintendo's NES version of Tetris had sales of 1.5 million copies totaling $52 million. 52 million/1.5 million copies = 34.. or just to look up the original price of 34.99)
Again, as I state waaay too often here. These answers can be found on the first few results of google before using them as a counter argument

Is it better than what you have?
It seems to work like a lot past hack and slash games. Where the level only dictates the range of the bonuses. The level compared to yours doesn't always matter. It's the range of stats vs what you have that does.
Ive gotten a 30 legendary that had all the same features as a 47. (as in what it buffed, and the legendary unique on it. Same item different ranges on the feature)
Say a level 35 can do range of 5-15, while a 45 can do 10-20.
A 35 CAN be +13, while a 45 CAN be +11
I've never even paid attention the level of the item in games like this (unless its higher than me since I cannot wear it), Only if its better than the one I have.
Im 52 rocking a 23 helm because nothing I found beats its +34 all stats and thorns (things I want)
Also here legendary features dont matter for level if you want Just that feature. Take a level 20 legendary that has a orange feature you like you dont have? Slap it on a level 50 item. Bam now you have that.
