Can't get hyped for this. Seems like a No Man's Sky with mediocre shooting and mechanics that you'll barely use or will be barely usable until mods come.

I don't know how they want to make exploring these worlds interesting, when I'm already bored looking at them in the gameplay trailer. It's Mass Effect 2's planet scanning all over again.

looks like they stuffed the game with so many mechanics to hide a mediocre game....sure the scale seems impressive, but just that the game has too much going on for it and nothing really pops out...procedural planets? gtfo
i do like the aesthetics though, that retro feel and the music, the lightning like the sunsets also looked good

Story trailer was meh. The special presentation on the other hand was really impressive, but it seems obvious that they meticulously hand-picked what to show, so I guess we'll have to wait for those trusty 3rd-party reviews before post-hurrdurring.
EDIT: Hmmmm price at Diego's is decent for a title this big but will probably get inflated real soon, so might have to pre-hurrdurr and then refund if (when?) it turns to be shit @ release day.

Looks nice, but I can't shake off the NMS-feeling and it all being a procedural borefest. Apart from the hand placed stuff, probably. Guess it'll depend on how it balances out.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

BTW, do mods even work with the versions of TES/FO on the windows garbage store?

It might be different than other space games, but yeah, games like No Man's Sky kill any sort of hype I have for planet exploration
Looks like it's running poorly in their videos as well
The rest looks pretty damn good!

To me it looks like Fallout 4 with a different paint job. I'm only interested in what the community does with Bethesda's games because outside that the typical Bethesda gameplay loop is very samey and quite boring. I mean there's is nothing new here since fo3/Skyrim, id go earlier but Oblivion and Morrowind had more RPG elements.
Alot of the features discussed so far, modders have done and would implement anyway.. skills, character gen, weapon mods etc. No comment of anything they've changed to the quest system or storytelling (which I arguably think is the weakest part of Beth games).
Ya I'm just wondering what I'm supposed to be hyped about so far, what has been shown to really improve the open world sandbox experience? I mean the ships/space travel stuff I can take or leave, If it's shit I would prefer just clicking planets on a star map.

Looks good but it's hard to get too excited over the same old mechanics being used with the same old engine just in a different environment. We know exactly how combat will feel and how NPC interactions and quests will be cause we've been here so many times before.
As someone who loves space games and exploration it's really that aspect which has me interested, if this were not set in space my interest would be minimal cause when you get to the core of it it's just more of the same.

I will pirate the game at launch, get some 70+ hours in mostly exploring and about 50% of the story done, then get bored and quit.
I will buy GOTY edition on sale some years later, play with some mods for 40+ hours and 30% of the story and get bored and quit.
3 years later i will install ALL the mods, play for 10+hours, find out I've FUBAR'ed something with a mod, and never touch it again |
How it will go with me: isodemo it at launch and play vanilla until I get bored. Probably get 30% of story content done by then.
And in the years that follow, new attempts will be installing tons of mods, check them out in the game, and by the time I'm ready to start playing, I'll be bored and uninstall

The game is probably extremely cpu limited, considering its scope and layers over layers of systems it has. Since the cpus in these boxes are relatively shit, its nothing out of the ordinary to have it at 30. It's a "creative" decision in the sense that you'd have to have a gimped gamedesign with fewer gameplay features to lessen the impact on the cpu. So better to target 30 on consonles. Do we even give the slightest fuck here though about how it runs on fucking xbox of all things ? I dont imagine any of us plan to play a beth game on something other than a pc

30fps or not I’m playing on Series X. Pretty sure Phil Spencer said the FPS would have been discussed at the Starfield Direct but despite everything that was discussed, they kept quite about the performance :/
May the NFOrce be with you always.
