Well I hate the new Steam UI as well.
- What's up with the size of the context menus? They take up half my fucking screen.
- Notification buttons are way too prominent and annoying with animations.
- Friends window opens up at startup. I DON'T WANT THAT FFS.
- Doesn't hide not signed in anymore in offline mode. It'll always show last online: 1 minute ago.

I'm not experiencing that, but maybe it's because I set my status to "Invisible" most of the time.

They have enabled it by default for years, but you can turn it off. I never see friends list unless I sign in manually

That used to work, but not anyore with the latest redesign. It always opens. I have status also set to invisible/offline.

Another annoying thing is that it seems Steam finally killed the ability to print receipts when you enter a CD key via the client, but it seems like it now sends you the activation notice via email similar to if you entered the keys via the website.
I am noticing the friend list pop up on launch as well even though I am always shown as invisible/offline and not logged into the friends list to show as active. Here is a fix to try according to the Steam forums. You might have to do it a couple times to get it to register but it does seem to work.
enable auto sign-in
restart steam
disable
close, but not sign out of chat.
restart steam

with the new update now when i activate a new game (not bought but given) i receive a email and i dont know how disable that. before the update i wouldnt receive email from games that i activated. does anybody know how to disable this now?

- new interface loads
- click add to cart on a game
- steam client hangs completely, icon still on the taskbar, non responsive

Use ASF to activate, no emails then.

I haven't been switched either (purchased a couple of games in the last 2 weeks), but then again I "moved" to Tango land a long time ago and I've paid all my purchases there with my Steam wallet balance. |
From what I could gather, the switch doesn't seem to follow any particular logic/scheme, it...just happens at random. I too was living in La Plata since early 2019 and had never used anything other than my wallet for four years, but it didn't matter. Gabe's lottery-like algorithms definitely work in mysterious ways |

So some questions:
- Did you return games?
- Did you buy while semi-logged out? Sometimes prices will show in your proper currency if Steam has been running for a long time.
- Did you send death threaths or dick pics to GabeN?
Valve is data-driven. There has to be some logic behind this.

Oh, no you just get one card a day for going through the discovery queue and one for every ~10bucks spent
