EA's reverse Midas touch is doing its thing with the ridiculous F1 Life à la The Sims, nosy pink Tokens and the absolutely worthless addition of supercars that handle like boats (seriously, what's even the point of having them ), but thankfully, the actual F1 driving experience is still fine and the usual modes are there. As long those remain, the franchise has a reason to exist.
I didn't play the 2021 reskin but the new cars (as expected) drive a bit differently, they spin more on the slow corners and the lower ride height means that kerbs can be lethal when approached too aggressively. The AI is still hectic and not exactly consistent, though that's a trademark at this point. The non-raydurr'd visuals are largely the same, the lighting is better but the LOD is worse for some reason and that doesn't seem to be affected by the settings, plus most of the mechanics have now been gender-swapped (of course ) using one single universal model.
It's somewhat impressive though how despite the yearly and almost identical releases, basic bugs keep amassing - especially when doing medium/long races with the Safety Car. I even had a couple of occurrences where the mandatory pit stop window and SC overlapped and the Williams managed to skip both and actually win the race by some margin. Master🅱️lan!
