The particle effects are something else here, entire screen covered / blinded everytime a button is pressed in those two videos.
Are these games still making good sales? It looks the same as the last 3-4 games. Realtime button mash, casual difficulty, skill system where the player can't make a bad choice. What is different here compared to Forspoken?
I'm a huge Final Fantasy Fan and even played and finished the bad games like Type-0, 13 saga etc but somehow i have zero hype for this one. Im not stuck up on this being a real time game etc. but it looks so generic to me....
I'm not hyped for this one either, don't think I've been hyped for a FF since 12, but I am looking forward to it, because finally another FF with a non teenage main character.
FF12 was the only real-time one i really played / finished, it was OK. I just miss massive budget TB final fantasy, challenging bosses and extra content, a skill system where you have choice.
This type of game doesn't exist anymore, I can find 1000's of real-time open-world games doing the same as everyone else with FF is meh.

Of course ! Suddenly FF7 REMAKE became GOTY material to some of you here when it was released on PC
Seriously though, I liked FF7 REMAKE, and I'm hyped for this one. I already preordered it on Erdogan's store (see I have some dignity here unlike headshot, while I'm blindly preordering, note it is on the Erdogan store, and not the 90 euros store he loves to support ).
This is at least smthg I learnt from the PC section

Sorry
Dropped it while making my way to that second reactor (the one you go through some e, f, g, h named areas). It's not a bad game but it's a bare bones port, and some of the bad/weaker stuff about it pissed me off.

I remember you didn't like it that much, that's why I said "some".
The game is not perfect but I enjoyed it more than any of the other JRPG i tried. I can't enjoy turn based ones nor did I enjoy Xenoblade series on the Nintendo consoles (which I own, so it's not about "you don't own the console blah blah").
Story, atmosphere, sound is also important. Not only gameplay, and I think FF7 Remake did it better. Usually Final Fantasy games do these aspects better and that's what saves them (you don't have Chocobos on other games!).
That's also why Forspoken isn't good, it's a whole new IP.
Right but you could simply play another franchise that caters to that, instead of changing a premier franchise with 10x releases in one style and effectively completely killing off the only point of differentiation..
The remake is mediocre on several fronts:
-Dumbed down gameplay - not really any challenge
-No player agency / choice, modern game design where there is never a wrong choice.
-Reconning major plot elements like character deaths, this really sucks because there is no threat/danger which leads to not caring about the characters, they are invincible. You want to feel something about the antagonist.. these guys are assholes! when everything is so safe and watered down you just don't care.
-Realtime boss battles, x x x x x.. they carry no weight. Compare any modern FF boss battle to FFX final Seymour battle, a total smug asshole character with his own composed battle themes and PITA attack phases, it's way more epic and enjoyable.
-also the 10 teenage anime men is very tired, bring back rikku, lulu tifa's
-But yes it has cool gfx and production.
And yes men, Octopath traveller and other budget games are great but I want a truly AAA Dark Aeon screen blitzing bad ass turn based JRPG. This no longer exists.
I don't have the patience to spend a lot of time fighting bosses in FF/RPG games these days. When I was a kid, I had nothing better to do but I can't justify trying a fight more than 3 times these days. So I'm glad the game is easier and gameplay faster, and dumbed down. Back then prgoressing in a game wasn't as rewarding as in 2023 thanks to better GFX, sound design and cinematography.
I think difficulty and gameplay is also dumbed down for people like me, who used to play hard games back then (hello Lifeforce/Salamander ) but who grew up and still wanna enjoy the new games but simply have 0 time and wanna progress fast.
And yeah I'm one of these who cannot like the Souls games (I tried, I even bought Demon Souls on PS5 which is supposed to be the easiest of them all).
You are probably aware that FF7 Remake has a hard mode, and a "turn based" mode right? I know it's still easy compared to some of their older games, but XXXXXXX won't work for bosses (hello Hell House).
Oh and I don't care about story changes in FF7 remake, at least it makes the upcoming games unexpected. I also don't remember many games the players have any impact on the stories except mostly the Quantic Dreams games.
About anime type, seems FF16 is more serious though but we will see. I liked the FF7 remake anime style, it was faithful to old FF7 but also trying to bring a more serious atmosphere to it. A good in-between I'd say.
Maybe I'm a fanboy now, but mind you, while I played FF7, FF8, FF9, FF10, FF12, FF13, FF15 and FF7R, I never really played more than 1 hour of the turn based FF games (too slow and boring to me). Only FF games I've finished are FF15 and FF7 remake because I finally had the patience to play them more. Never liked the FF IP until now !
Following all the Final Fantasy 16 previews, Square Enix has come out to confirm that the game is confirmed to be getting a full-length demo prior to the June 22 launch date. According to the company, the demo will cover a few hours worth of content, focusing on Clive in his youth, rather than him as an adult as most of the promotional material has shown him. All in all, this content appears to be similar, if not the same, as the hands-on Final Fantasy 16 previews have experienced.
This will be the first final fantasy that i will buy and play. After trying the demo i gotta say it looks 90% epic, 10% cringe. Kinda light on the gameplay though, more like an epic movie. But I quite liked it.
