late to the party but I wanted to finish the game first.
so finally watched this after finishing the PC yarr game.
TV show is a lame adaptation I'm sorry to say. I don't care about characters' looks or race swapping etc.
The acting performance is far superior in the game, simple as. Probably because Ellie was acted by an experienced adult. It just feels like in the TV show a lot of lines are just recited awkwardly instead of having any emotion behind them. And I get that a lot was cut due to budget, logistics etc and the game having more physical freedom to create wacky scenarios but the product ends up inferior.
ok show for people who aren't into games, but the game is so much better.
too bad as she would have made a great ellie, but i just dont see her as abby, maybe theyll change her, dunno about the hate, it had more impact in the game for obvious reasons
I finally got around to watching the show for the sake of completeness since I needed to play the game first and patient bear has nearly infinite patience. The production values are fine and the acting is competent for the most part, however, this is something that in my opinion simply works better in the context of a linear pseudo-interactive adventure where the viewer/player is directly affected by the dynamic events and all the little interactions that unfold. Watching the show after the game felt pretty sterile and borderline redundant, except for Offer(wo)man's episode which actually brought something new to the table.
As for Ellie, aside from the memes and the actress' awkward looks specifically selected to prevent people from going to horny jail (and to showcase that an extra chromosome shouldn't be a barrier ), the decision to crank up her snarky brat attitude ultimately made the character less charming than the game. In general, when it comes to dialogues and their delivery, corners were cut and compromises got in the way since the television formula can only go so far. In short: if you have a decent rig and can withstand moderate amounts of consolitis, you're better off playing the game instead and experiencing the story the way it was meant to.
they said they changed some things but idk that teaser looks spot on from the game so far
It is, but I think they said some time ago that they split the story from TLOU2 and make two seasons out of it?
TLOU2 spoilers!!!!!:
Spoiler:
My guess is they switch the story and the events up a bit so that Joel meets his fate at the end of season 2, and the story of semi-adult Ellie and Abby picks up at the beginning of Season 3
I never played the games (haven't owned a console since I had a Sega Megadrive for a short while). I enjoyed the first series but I'm not really all that "ooh yeah, TLoU season 2 is coming soon".
Waiting for the PC release to play the second one.
Haven't decided if I watch this or do the second game first...
game first since its the first to come out, never played tlou2 either but i do know overall wat happens....still i want to experience the game first, im more hyped that the game comes out than s2...
