everything is stock and pretty much untouched at this point. bios, nope, did not update yet.
i did the upgrade mostly because the 3090 did not really match an old 8600K... but also for new games that will require something better than a 2017 CPU, like starfield.
And here i was planning to jump from 3800x to 7800X3D. Guess i'll wait for RYZEN 8000 in 2024
Talking about AM5. I've read that there were some CPU fires/burnings among maybe other issues. Have those have been finally been solved out?. Do you think that in the future these mobos will implement the newest BIOS out of the box without the need to update the BIOS?

I'm surprised of how cool the CPU is, 59C while gaming, and i've been lazy and i didn't put in any case fans yet, there's just the one on the front. I also bought the cheapest air cooler possible for the CPU.
To me these new CPU's feel like there's way less brute power so to speak (how it was back in the days, big increase in MHz, then GHz...) but now its more about more cores, new functions, and if games uses them, yes you will notice big improvements. When they're not, you're going to be disappointed and you will be perfectly fine with a 2017 CPU.
For new games i don't think i will be disappointed. Shadow of the Tomb Raider, 90 FPS increase, that's pretty decent..

wtf and then you wonder why the performance sucks ass? it's probably downclocking because your cooler is not made for this CPU. either you setup something wrong, so it won't perform as it should or it's downclocking because of the cooler.
7800X3D shouldn't be just 59° while gaming, it should be much more, especially if you use a shitty cooler. something is wrong at your end.
Well, i compared my 3800x with your previous 8600K and there was like a 7% increase, while 3800x to 7800X3D goes 35%
With 7700X being 28%
You did a brutal jump one way or another still ! (33%). It should be superb in the long run!
Wich mobo brand/model and CPU cooler are ya using btw?. Did you OC'd?

Not a chance. A CPU is only downclocking if it's getting too hot What do you think happens if you have no cooling or a shitty cooler? The CPU will not get cool, it will get super hot and the computer will eventually completely power down.
It's not a shitty cooler btw, it's a good cooler but yes it's cheap in comparison to ones with "cool" LED's and whatever, i don't need that shit. Watch that episode of Linus Techtips where they're comparing coolers, expensive and cheap, lol, it's such a scam.
From what i've seen with AssCreed Odyssey its just a game that sucks when it comes to using newer CPU's. My overclocked 8600K was almost up there with Gen 12 i9 CPU's when i made a search of what benchmark results those people got with a 3090, my CPU was not far behind at all.
Please check how current CPUs run/work, how they boost and what kind of cooling you want. This is not 2016. If your CPU only runs at 59° while gaming there is something wrong and you are missing Performance.

No overclocking yet, but i always overclock my CPU's eventually, i've always loved doing benchmarks and tweaking settings, cooling etc
As for how hot CPU's get, how good they are for overclocking etc, it's always a gamble. you can get one which runs really hot and is terrible at overclocking..
Performance looks normal to me?
I'm comparing the same settings/resolution, CPU, but this dude has a 3070 (vs 3090) and 64GB RAM (vs my 32)
3070: 115 FPS
3090: 160 FPS
Spoiler:
Temperature after running the benchmark 3 times in a row (directly alt-tabbing out to windows):
Spoiler:
Is it showing the temp correctly? Obviously i have no idea. And yes the 89C is the Max specs this CPU can handle (it's not max reached here), it always says "Max 89C."
89C max and mine's 95C... With Handbrake i was near 95C with my 3800X sometimes but 89C i can't imagine ...
I don't OC my PC anymore (Not after what happened to my Z190 with auto XMP) and i don't dare to undervolt etc to have the same fate
Using a Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black set to always full speed PWM. My next build will have the https://noctua.at/en/nh-d15-chromax-black if i can move the fan above the RAM to the back side of the tower and call it a day

I think Ryzen Master's MAX T is the max allowed by bios, not the max you've reached
my 5950x MAX is 90C
here is a nice video about why reaching CPU max T is not bad
This game doesn't seem to really max out the CPU in any way so its not like it's odd that the temps are that low
I'll check a few more games and maybe also cinebench too. i'm not claiming this game is the best for maxing out CPU's and see what kind of max temps you can get, it's just a random game with a benchmark option.
...worth nothing though is that the 7800x3d did give me 90 more FPS than the 8600K, so its not like its completely GPU-bound.

Thanks. That looks perfectly fine to me. Your CPU operates normally.
If its anything like the 5800X3D you can improve the temps and the performance a bit with lowering PBO on all cores. (there should be a setting in bios) Its like undervolting: lower temps mean higher sustained boost. Of course you will need to stress test it. And some cores can go lower than others. But running stock is fine too of course.

Upgraded my Ryzen 5900X, AsRock B550 Velocita PG and 32GB (4x 8GB) 3200Mhz @ 3600MHz combo to Ryzen 7900X, Asus X670E-F WiFi, 2x 16GB 5600MHz C28 @ 6000MHz C30 for less than 200€.
Sold old parts for 450€ and bought new ones second hand (except memory) for 620€ total. Only CPU + mb cost almost 900€ brand new. 7900X is something I would never bought new but for this money it is worth using until 8 series or 7950X3D when it becomes cheap enough.

Let us know wich BIOS came with the mobo (To see if they've been updated recently so you can skip the whole CPU burning issue).
Also, if possible, do a photo of the white sticker from one of the side of the box to see the production date etc so in case some people can check the mobo at a retailer they can see if they've been updated etc to save some drama)
Wich RAM brand did ya got?
Let us know how long memory training takes to start the PC the first time or atleast how much time it takes from turning the PC on (NO HIBERNATION, aka must be 100% off) till it reaches the desktop/login screen.
Also, if someone doesn't likes to do OC, can't they just disable memory training to speed things up?.. Or, if you touch a setting that's NOT related to RAM training, does it have to re-train the entire thing again?
Planning on upgrading my X570 3800X combo in the future
