Patch Notes :

• Drastically reduced the occurence of the squad leader's acknowledgement after an order
• The "Double Time" line will not play anymore after a walk order (but for your pleasure can still be triggered by a run order)
• Fixed some crashes

This game is a mix of frustration and amazing and I like difficult / hard games.

I do enjoy:
- Aliens IP, the sounds, setting, map, dialog
- General gameplay loop is really cool, it feels like watching/playing Aliens(2).
- The quality / atmosphere of the game is exceptional.
- The additional lore is pretty cool and kinda fits.

What I don't enjoy:
- Cutscnes into deathrooms where you almost guaranteed to lose the squad and reload to setup.
- Losing your marines (even losing 1 means reloading unless maybe on easy mode). There is no x-com mechanic here where you can fail and recover a mission. You must save scum every mission to play the game.
- I just lost all sentry guns (6 fkn sentry guns !!!) to an unexpected cut-scene ending.
- A lot of scenarios become, detected? = reload.
- Timers (this doesn't bother me too much), all aspects of gameplay are coupled to timers so you have to rush.
- You cannot manual save the game, you must use resources (which is fine) but repeating the same sections over and over to get to a difficult encounter sucks.

without having played the game, what kind of audio does it change?

This is a must buy for me, but i'm gonna wait and hope that it gets quite a few more patches (and even more mods).

The main thing is the pulse rifles and possibly the alien sounds (the default sound is meh). It also changes the tracker sounds, battle music etc. just small details but the clip above is a lot better than stock. The marine voice lines aren't too bad either (there's a lot of cliche's from the movie). Someone should AI mod the voices with Hicks, Apone etc. it would be so damn good.

I've hit a few bugs (some causing a complete restart of mission). First major patch was just released. It's a fairly difficult game (sometimes pretty unfair) if your playing Hard+, the games more stealth driven overall in mechanics.

I've had my problems with the game and left it installed but not touched for a couple weeks. Now I've installed all the updates and decided to give it a proper go. Man, yesterday I was hooked! I couldn't leave my place to go to work Very Happy

Also agree on the saving scum, this is one of those instances where it would be passable (edit: necessary) to use it. Losing a Marine mostly during the night hurts... mostly Crying or Very sad

Ok.. yeah the pulse rifle must sound correctly, it would annoy the hell out of me otherwise.
i like that they seem to have listened to some of its critique, might be heading for something really incredible if they keep it up.

I tried it and my 50 y/o fingers just couldn't keep up with the game mechanics. Saw some mods that may help with pausing at times but couldn't make up for all the game mechanics I would love to change.

I really love the atmo though-- they captured the feel really well (gonna watch Alien and Aliens with my daughter this weekend cuz she's never seen em). I would love to play thru it... if it were more like JA3 or something akin to traditional xcom-like with turn based combat and individual crew movement.

I was really excited for this one (and Darkest Dungeon 2 as well) but just couldn't get into either.

But now, having enjoyed JA3, and just started Bg3, I feel like I'm 25 again Smile what year is it??

I finished it today and I liked it. Like @deadseasquirrel said - the atmosphere is great. I did not mind the squad control at all, the closest (or capable) character performs the action which is quite logical. Of course there were situations where individual control would be beneficial, but it's manageable.

As for keeping up - when you press spacebar, the game slows down - or pauses completely, depending on what you choose in the option. I played with slowmo and it was enough for me.

Game become unplayable here. Exactly when I started to enjoy it the most (I really wanted to give the game another chance and managed to like it)... Laughing Facepalm

The moment I return to the Otago and enter MARINE screen (upgrades), GPU goes nuts, flies to 100% usage, and PC freezes. Such / same issues are also reported on Steam forums.

Cmon, I don't want no 'game over, man'...

And to think I was about to buy this (to support the developers)... Mad

I don't get most of the remark:s
I find the 1 click control squad great. It blends perfectly with my lethargic clicks-per-minute gamer fingers, keeping the pace/ tension going (the no pause also helps this)
You can do a lot tactics wise - anticipation is more important than quick reactions. And that is great in my book

I hope more games go this route instead of the twitch mechanics on one end and the all stops on the other (TB)

First in a long time i actually finished a game

Months after release and this game is still junky as hell.

It nailed some of the feeling of the Aliens movie and parts of the gameplay loop are really cool. But the execution, the UI and some narrative aspects are really hard to digest.
