I still have have it, Sapphire 4870x2. Back in the 2008 it cost me a small fortune. No problems with the card except it reaches 82°C while idling and the blower heats up the room in no time. But with MSI afterburner and some fiddling with the fan curvature, it keeps the temps below 60°C. I also changed the thermal pads and the thermal paste and now it's good as new.
I remember putting on some third party cooler for it, made it a lot cooler than stock. I do remember this cooler did cost a small fortune too which was another annoyance.
it should be fun but it really isnt right now cause u just get ripped off and u know it when u press purchase
still on my i7 920 here, zero reason to upgrade as im still on full hd. might put in a 10 eur 6core server xeon if 4 cores isnt enough anymore.
might consider upgrading when i get a 4k oled but waiting for the market crash, demand is so lowright , prices must come falling down soon once this whole AI farce bubble pops

suprized revieuwers arent ripping amd a new one, 10 years ago they would have been the laughing stock of the internet if u went from a 5800 to a 6800 and barely got 5% + , now they have them all in their pockets
It seems that new 4090 revision is running 100MHz slower due to 1070mV limitation compared to 1100mV at the old revision. Not a big deal but definitely a shady move for not pointing this out.

but yeah vs buying expensive fans, especially so for getting a quiet GPU, it can be a simple and cheap solution. i think i can fix the hole too, if i ever move out
yes running the computer outside my room was awesome the time i lived alone and had a door with space to run my power/hdmi/sound and usb extenders underneath and had the computer in my cold entrance hallway lol 2-3 meters away
i was a maniac once , sleeping 3 meters away in same room from a overclocked amd 750 to 950 mhz with 6000rpm delta fans , that float n fly away when unscrewed, while it was downloading or burning cds at 100% of 10 mbit using massive cpu to download diablo 2 from the uni network
most ofi graphics cards after voodoo2 and geforce 1 where superloud under load 2005-2019 horrible blowers. then in 2019 i got this rx570 and in idle the fans dont even turn on and it stay very quiet at 30% , ear opening experience and then started lowering fan speeds and quit overclocking for just a silent room now ,silence is priceless and never have to worry about waterleaks omfg
