Somehow the game keeps getting worse the more I play. Around 20 hours in, the exploration is really boring and all PoIs are so far away from each other. More time running just to find nothing good. The whole planet experience is just terrible if you don't want to scan and collect useless items. The creatures are 0 threat so far. It's just big empty land to run till you reach a point of interest and half of them are just there to get some XP.
Continue with quests but they don't get better either. Boring fetch quests, the writing is bad, the characters are soulless, and the world is dead. Even if there are some NPCs around they all have 0 interaction.
Combat is okay. Nothing new nor super boring. The skills however are all basic stuff from 10 years ago. Nothing makes me want to grind to the next level.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Wow, you ignorant elitist hater, what do you expect from a Bethesda title, it gets a lot better 12 hours in.

Amazingly this trash engine will be the basis for TES 6 and the future 70 series GPUs will be brought to their knees because they just ain't powerful enough for the next gen

My intuition tells me they're gonna take TESVI to the next level. Just a hunch since everything about it has taken so long. Personally i'd be fine if VI looked like Skyrim though if it meant the game was released a few years earlier. Graphics whores are everywhere these days, but it also means multiple years more of development.

Are you serious ?
The Engine is crap and its just full of bugged legacy code and outdated libraries, no matter what iteration of Gamebryo they make it wont cut the corners ever if they dont start completly over. Look at Starfield, it suffers from the same issues like Skyrim and you really believe that TES 6 will be different ? LOL we`ve seen the same struff not long ago with *cough* FO76 *cough*

One other huge issue with the game is as I mentioned before, the PG nature. This is one of the main reasons I can't wait for Cyberpunk. I want gritty cops, corruption, adults who talk to you like adults, profanity, gore, adult themes etc. The writing is so bland in Starfield, yet it's rated R18+ in my country.

This game... is Bethesda's version of 'Animal Crossing':
• is very easy to play
• has no difficulty levels
• doesn't let you lose
• offers no real threat
• offers you almost everything on a plate, without effort
• gives you enemies that pose no challenge
• doesn't want to hurt your feelings
• gives you NPCs that talk softly, kind, easy with you
• treats you like you're some kinda of fragile flower
• treats you like you already deserve everything
• treats you like you just proved yourself to be a person of high skill and value (except you just started the game)
It is the perfect ESCAPISM game for some grownups.
what you guys don't enjoy "You are super special hero guy, no you can't kill this NPC, or this NPC, or most NPC's" writing? What are you? Adults who don't wanna be treated with kid gloves?
If this wins goty over BG3; and honestly It probably will given how corrupt shilljourno bullshit is, It would be a sad picture.
if diversity and bear sex is all that you see in BG3 then it speaks more about you than the game. It's not a mandatory scene. It's not a Porn game. If you don't go out of your way to seek it out nothing like that even gets mentioned.
The internet was better when religious idiots didn't get easy access to it via smartphones to spout their antiquated garbage on the internet and influence incels who hate women for not sleeping with them and use minorities as a scapegoat for their failure.

No, it's the other way around, they get out of their way to seek it.

Wow, this is your defense to journalists overlooking the glaring flaws of a game to raise it to an undeserved level of fame for various reasons (including most likely social politics)? It's not even the first time this happened and it won't be the last.

Are you not aware that BG3 is also the kind of story where you are constantly reminded what a "special hero" you are?
Anyway, despite its many many shortcomings, Starfield does manage to nail a few things every now and then.
The questline with the pirates is pretty damn good.
There are a few noteworthy moments in the story. I found the twist to be great, The way they handled one of the major choices was rather sloppy, but the aftermath was well crafted.
The graphics indoors are on a whole other level compared to the outdoors.
The variety of weapons is nice. It's a shame the shooting mechanics are not even up to the older standards.

You might not be aware but there are 4 difficulty levels selectable in settings.
No patch for the weekend or next week probably, so gave it a shot on the laptop (2021 Legion 5) and desktop (5900x, 32GB DDR4, 3070).
Game seems absolutely CPU starved. Also is Render Resolution Scale somewhat related to FSR or is it just the "classic" setting that appears on some games for years now? By default the game launched with it at 62% or something like that, and there seems to be some split second screen resizing when you go from the inventory back to in-game, even with it at 100% but that's probably FSR2 kicking in.
On the first scene right after character creation with the high preset on display settings and FSR2 enabled FPS dropped to 50 lol (running the game @1200p). Can't wait to check out new atlantis performance
Still have to try the DLSS2 mod, maybe that will help performance a bit.

An issue that needs desperate addressing is the freezes caused by swapping weapons. I read on reddit that it might caused by the ammunition in the inventory. But I dumped thousands of bullets and kept only what was absolutely necessary and it didn't work.
I'm dev illiterate, but sometimes I wonder if gamebryo is emulating some ancient cpu structure in the background just so the spaghetti code doesn't fall apart
