meh, you can always;

refund (takes 10 seconds to do, money is usually back within ~1-8h if Steam)

cancel the order, or send back if already sent (if physical copy.)

just play it - don't like it - sell it for ~15-20% less than what you gave, if it's some special edition you might be able to sell for more or the same, though don't bet on it if its like 5/10 game... obviously only works for physical copies.

Not that i think pre-ordering is a great idea, i've done it maybe 5 times in my life.

I've pre-ordered two games in my life: 1, Diablo II, physical copy obviously. I'm glad I did since it was sold out before the store opened that day and I just walked in and got my copy. 2. Skyrim, physical copy. Got a poster etc. but ultimately felt that I could've just bought it normally.

With the advent of Steam and Xbox pre-ordering I noticed that it's more of a scam than anything else. Buy on release day. It's digital and thus no risk of not getting a copy.

Boy do I need a random visual queue every 5 seconds to keep being involved in whatever platitudes this guy

spews.
Is ADHD that much of a thing? Does it keep anyone engaged past the 20s (tops) mark?

Because the crux of it is plain to see and has been for years.
