This screen has some new things in it such as the sidebar which aparently can have custom and third party "gadgets" added to it. I can't quite get the things on there that I want yet but I have it displayed with the default ones. The second one is a photo slide show which is pretty cool. Also the windows journal lets you take notes. It's pretty difficult you write with a regualr mouse but with a pen or tablet pc this would be pretty awesome. You can add photos and highlight certain things. Lastly the windows calendar lets you add appointments and reminders etc. pretty useful. Very Happy

@Skid - I dont think i understand what you mean. config for what? Smile

Fast enough for use as a primary OS? Have you given games a try as that was a pretty major issue with the builds prior to this..?

Imagine if Microsoft would put more time into making a stable OS then into creating all that useless eyecandy...

Half the CPU power and GPU power will be used to render Vista only.. Playing a game on top of that will be fucking impossible...

@sYn - Yea fast enough that I would use it as my primary OS and I am sure it will be optomized more by the time of the final. I haven't tried to play any games on it just yet. I'll give that a shot in a little bit.

@skidrow - Yea it's dvd.

In the release b4 this one, the button was in the quick-menu, next to the old "start" button (wich now is the round blue windows button).

You have to click the extend-arrow button, its in there if im right.

Ermmm.. what? How could if effect anything if you've removed the OS...? The question doesnt make any logical sense.

i installed mounting via alc120% through win xp on other HD not partition & it took me about same time as installing xp it's like 20 minutes top,i had trouble installing creative driver for sb24bit live but after several atempts it fit it in & still doesn't work right i think it works in software mode only but that driver is old so what do u expect, installed winxp nvidia driver 81.95 without problems, now will try this http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_87.15.html
but currently using xp cause works much faster & vista got too many efx that realy annoying me,but all in all it's pretty much stable for beta not a single crash
btw rated my pc as "3" Pent4 3ghz 1gb ram
install takes about 7gigs Shocked

I'm trying to install Windows Vista within a VMWare machine, but I have some problems.

first the entire setup process is only with 16 colors and I cannot understand why.

I'm able to format the virtual HD but then it won't allow me to go further into the setup process.
the next button is just disabled and I have a message on the bottom saying "to detect HD please go to reboot and check your BIOS"

any sugestions where these problems can be solved?

1. Does Vista try to "phone home" or in any other way make life difficult for people using pirated software?

2. Is it possible to turn off all that fucking eye-candy to make it look like (and consume as much resources as) classic Windows?
