This screen has some new things in it such as the sidebar which aparently can have custom and third party "gadgets" added to it. I can't quite get the things on there that I want yet but I have it displayed with the default ones. The second one is a photo slide show which is pretty cool. Also the windows journal lets you take notes. It's pretty difficult you write with a regualr mouse but with a pen or tablet pc this would be pretty awesome. You can add photos and highlight certain things. Lastly the windows calendar lets you add appointments and reminders etc. pretty useful.
@Skid - I dont think i understand what you mean. config for what?

Fast enough for use as a primary OS? Have you given games a try as that was a pretty major issue with the builds prior to this..?

Imagine if Microsoft would put more time into making a stable OS then into creating all that useless eyecandy...
Half the CPU power and GPU power will be used to render Vista only.. Playing a game on top of that will be fucking impossible...

@sYn - Yea fast enough that I would use it as my primary OS and I am sure it will be optomized more by the time of the final. I haven't tried to play any games on it just yet. I'll give that a shot in a little bit.
@skidrow - Yea it's dvd.

I'm running an Athlon XP 3000+, 9600 and 1gb of ram. It won't run vista fast enough to be the primary OS?

I can't seem to find any solid benchmark information, or anything to say that games run decent in this build..

Ermmm.. what? How could if effect anything if you've removed the OS...? The question doesnt make any logical sense.

I'm trying to install Windows Vista within a VMWare machine, but I have some problems.
first the entire setup process is only with 16 colors and I cannot understand why.
I'm able to format the virtual HD but then it won't allow me to go further into the setup process.
the next button is just disabled and I have a message on the bottom saying "to detect HD please go to reboot and check your BIOS"
any sugestions where these problems can be solved?

1. Does Vista try to "phone home" or in any other way make life difficult for people using pirated software?
2. Is it possible to turn off all that fucking eye-candy to make it look like (and consume as much resources as) classic Windows?
