Patch Notes for 1.0.11f1
Hi everyone.

Today we have the first of several patches to improve performance in Cities: Skylines II. While this does not address all issues we are aware of, we wanted to get you these improvements as soon as possible. Unfortunately, this patch is only available on Steam today. We're doing our very best to make it available on Microsoft Store as soon as possible.

This patch includes the following improvements and fixes:

Changed LOD to be independent of rendering resolution to get more consistent performance with high resolutions
Minor optimization with fog
Depth of field optimizations and tweaks
Global illumination tweaks
Optimized stutters when buildings spawn/level up
Optimized various stutters across all systems
Fixed crash after upgrading wind turbine
Fixed crash when car crashes into still hidden car with trailer
Fixed crash with mesh loading (that happens with low settings mostly)

Please make sure to report any crashes or bugs on our support forum here: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/forums/cities-skylines-2-bug-reports.1162/

Our team is working hard on getting the next round of fixes and improvements out as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!

Happy to learn that stutters can now be ... optimized !
Smile

Playing with the setting, Just turning off the quasi-RT universal lighting takes me back up to 100+fps at 3440x1440 with dynamic res crap off.

For my setup anyway, just that one lighting setting cuts it sub 50fps. And I can't see a difference, unless I zoom in on a shiny building and pay attention to look for the lighting difference.

Meh... who cares? Rolling Eyes

Their ASS (AI Specialist in Sales) told them that people will STILL BUY the game like crazy, despite having shite performance!

And IT was right.

To be honest, the game itself is fine performance wise once you disable the practically useless RT crap.
It's the quasi-RT and global illumination that kicks it in the balls. I turn those two things off, my FPS hovers around 80-100 depending on where I look.
This is without the frame-gen dynamic resolution shit too. Just basic "native res, and usual graphics settings on high, eye candy RT shit off".

I'm not saying it doesn't need fixing, they screwed the pooch on implementing it. I'm confused WHY they added it to start with. I literally cannot tell a difference with it on and off, only if I screenshot it on, screenshot it off, and look at the two side by side and really focusing can I see what that shit even does..which is barely anything.

Why did a city game need RT anyway? Just leave it out and your launch would have been fine. It runs on par (or better in some situations) than the first on same-same sized cities.

I am afraid DLSS Frame generation would introduce more artifacts than the count of fps gain here

Again, some head's at CO/Paradox should be slapped hard, to have released this game with gfx options (and not even talking by making them on by default) that don't make it performance wise.

Game would have launched smoothly and would be rated 75-80% instead of mixed 56%

AI, road management, transports, industries, services are all a step up in the right direction.
Economy feels a bit weird at the beginning : permanent deficit but with magical "level up" money boost. I take them as gov subvention to stay a little "RP" here Smile

@LeoNatan impressive article here, will take time to read it all, thx.
